10 Arrested For Kidnapping, Cultism,  Robbery In Ilorin, Irepodun LG …Kwara Still One Of The Safest States In Nigeria-CP Odama

Ten young chaps have been arrested and taken into custody by the police in Kwara state.  They were accused of getting involved in robbery, kidnapping and cultism.

Among the suspects were  the three young men who organized the abduction of Mrs Jumoke Bamigboye,  a top judicial officer in the state.

 Jumoke, whose husband, retired Colonel Theophilus  Bamigboye,  served as Military Administrator of Bauchi and Osun states,  had since  regained her freedom on Monday night.

 Mr Paul Odama, a Commissioner of Police, who heads the Kwara state police command, submitted during the press conference he presided over at the state police headquarters , Ilorin on Thursday that all the suspects will be taken to court after the completion of investigations.

‘ Suspect: Umaru Mohammed ‘m’ age 35 years

On 24/10/2022 at about 1100hrs, one Ibrahim Umar ‘m’ of Ijan Otun Via Oro in Irepodun LGA of Kwara state sent his two sons;  Umaru Ibrahim ‘m’ and Yusuf Ibrahim ‘m’ on  an errand to a nearby village. They were pounced on and abducted by armed men. No sooner were the boys kidnapped than a phone call was placed to the father of the victims demanding  N30million as ransom.

As soon as the information got to the Command, a team of Anti-Kidnapping Unit, Vigilante and hunters entered  the bushes around the Area for possible search, rescue and arrest of the suspects. The efforts of the teams paid  off as the two victims were rescued unhurt and one of the suspects was equally arrested.

 During interrogation he confessed to the crime. Effort to arrest the remaining suspects is in progress. The suspect will be taken to court as soon as investigation is concluded.

A report of an armed robbery incident  was received by the Anti-Kidnapping patrol team along Offa Garage/Kilanko axis on 26/10/2022 at about 1000hrs by Jooro Community to the effect that one Mrs. Jemilat Asiyanbi ‘f’ a POS operator in the community was attacked and robbed of the sum of N300,000.00  at gun point by the aforementioned  two suspects.

With the help of members of the community, the principal actor , Victor Olorunmayese ‘m’ was arrested and the remaining suspects escaped. Investigation led to the arrest of the second suspect and  the recovery of one live cartridge, while one Lekan ‘m’ , who is still at large escaped with the gun used during the operation. The suspects confessed to being  members of Eiye confraternity. Effort to arrest Lekan is ongoing, the suspects would soon be taken to court.

On 27/10/2022 at about 1430hrs, a report was made to the Command through the Anti-Kidnapping Unit by one Lawal Abubakar ‘m’ of Shao Junction that, on 22/10/2022 at about 1200hrs his younger sister one Talatu Goma ‘f’ left the house to sell cheese and  two young men  carrying dangerous weapons  had attacked and forcefully  taken  the girl away. The information also stated that while in the bush, two other men on a motorcycle came and took the victim to another different location. The two phones numbers used by the kidnappers to demand for ransom was tracked and one Sanni Sule ‘m’ was arrested. During interrogation, he mentioned  Abdulsalam Kuta as one of his accomplices. An identification parade was conducted and the suspects were identified by the victim as her abductors. The Command is working hard to get one Laagi ‘m’ another member of the gang arrested. Suspects would be taken to court.

Suspects: – 1. Babangida Ibrahim ‘m’ age 18years

                  2. Abubakar Ibrahim ‘m’ age 19years

           3. Sulaiman Kire ‘m’ 20years 

On 3/11/2022 at about 0530hrs, an information at the disposal of Eiyenkorin Divisional Headquarters revealed that on 3/11/2022 at about 0200hrs, one Madaki Saidu ‘m’ of Fulani Camp at Aiyegunle village was at his residence with his family  members when some suspected Fulani armed men showed up   and hacked his son named Musa Madaki ‘m’ to death and kidnapped Madaki Saidu ‘m’ and one of his granddaughters ;  Cumattu Madaki ‘f’, investigation into the matter led to the  arrest of the three suspects named above. Investigation further revealed that the suspects  also organized  the kidnapping of Magistrate Jumoke Bamigboye ‘f’ , who was recently released. The suspects would soon appear in court’  the CP said.

Responding to a reporter’s question, the police chief asserted that Kwara has maintained its status as one of the safest states to live in the country.

 He submitted that though crime incidents were getting recorded but that  those identified to have connection with such incidents were also being promptly  arrested and prosecuted.

Necessary steps and measures were according to him being taken to ensure security of lives and property.

He likened the situation to what a goal keeper is made to face during a football match.

Nobody, he noted,  would  show interest in  the number of times the goal keeper had stopped the  ball from passing  over the goal line but would  only   focus on when he  had failed to do so.

He also disclosed that necessary steps had already been taken to have Dr Adio Adeyemi Adebowale  transferred to Kwara state in order to face questions.

The chap, a Chief Medical Director at  the Kaiama General Hospital,  who had  been arrested for murder   and taken into custody by  the police in Edo state, had also been accused of  murder in Kwara state – Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
