
A total of 8,350 graduands will attend the 29th convocation ceremony of the Kwara state Polytechnic , Ilorin, tomorrow , Thursday, November, 9, 2023.
5,350 among the graduands would be receiving Higher National Diploma (HND) while the remaining 3,000 graduands will earn Ordinary National Diploma (OND).
The Rector of the polytechnic, Engineer Abdul Jimoh disclosed this during the press conference he presided over at the polytechnic on Wednesday, which was attended by journalists including Team@orientactualmags.com , it was held as part of the activities and programmes for the institution’s29th convocation ceremony.
He added that 102 among the graduands will be graduating with distinction.
Dr Jimoh also disclosed that the polytechnic has taken steps to enhance electricity supply at the institution to improve learning environment.
The 33KV procured by the polytechnic will according to him step up voltage from power plants and boost electricity supply.
He also listed projects that will be inaugurated at the institution to include Renovated old IOT lecture Hall, Laboratories/workshop and office.
‘You will recall that this administration has the tradition of inaugurating IGR projects at every convocation. Specifically, we inaugurated the renovated student hostel during the 2020 convocation, old IOT workshop, Kwara Polytechnic Micro Finance Bank, Ruminant Animal farm in 2021 and the Kwara Polytechnic Diagnostic Centre during the 2022 convocation ceremony. This year will shall inaugurate the IGR projects such as:
33KV project , Renovated old IOT lecture Hall, Laboratories/workshop and office.
2.5 Km reinforced concrete drainage ,the remodeled library and information science department.
With the approval of His Excellency, the executive governor of Kwara state ,Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq and the relentless efforts of the management, our administration’s light up Kwara poly project has not only impacted the institution but more than four communities and six government agencies through the 33kv Harmony feeder linked to the institution.
The project which was undertaken by the management will ensure regular power supply to the polytechnic, Apata-Yakuba, Oyun, Oke-Oyi and Oke-Ose communities in Moro and Ilorin East local governments, other state and federal government agencies that will also benefit from the institution’s largesse are the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital( UITH ), Kwara state Television Authority, Radio Kwara, the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation(NNPCL), Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB), Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), and the Standard Organization of Nigeria (SON)’ he said.
Engr. Dr. Taofeek Adekunle Abdul-Hameed, who is the pioneer Rector of the Federal Polytechnic Ayede, Oyo state, Nigeria, has also delivered the institution’s 29th Convocation Lecture.
