10th House Of Reps ‘Nonpareil’, Why We Are Supporting Tinubu Administration-Deputy Spokesman

10th House Of Reps ‘Nonpareil’, Why We Are Supporting Tinubu Administration-Deputy Spokesman

Having gotten recognized as a perfect model, the  10th House of Representatives  cannot be compared to previous legislative sessions, Deputy Spokesman for  the House of Representatives, Philip Agbese, has said.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Agbese said this in Abuja on Sunday while reacting to  the comments made about the salary and allowances of the federal lawmakers by former president Olusegun Obasanjo.

The former president had submitted that it is wrong and absurd that the federal lawmakers are allowed to determine their salary and allowances .

‘You are not supposed to fix your salary or allowances; it is supposed to be done by the Revenue Mobilisation and Fiscal Responsibility Commission.

With all due respect, you know it’s not right; it is not right for me to be the one to determine what I pay myself; it is immoral, and you are doing it; the Senate is doing it’ Obasanjo had submitted.

Rep Agbese however said unlike what was the situation in the past, the House of Representatives has maintained the highest level of accountability and transparency  under Speaker Tajudeen Abass’ leadership

‘I am bold to say that the very respected former president is right and wrong because of the things that transpired between him and the National Assembly during his time as president.

Stories abound that he was helpless. This is no longer the case, as the current crop of representatives has done quite a lot to deliver to the poor masses.

We mean what we say and everything that we do as a parliament. The era of narrow interest is over. We are here for our people and their collective interests’ he said.

Agbese also denied allegations that N100m and N200m  were  given to members of the National Assembly, noting that no such thing happened under the current administration  headed by President Bola Tinubu.

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu,  he noted,  is different from all past presidents in so many ways, and he has been  getting their support out of sheer diplomacy and consultation.

‘Tinubu is a product of partnership and collaboration. I think Obasanjo should focus more on the traditional media and stop patronizing social media hoaxes.

We know what Tinubu wants for Nigeria, and supporting the President to deliver on the Renewed Hope Agenda is the best for the country’ he added.

Speaker Tajudeen Abass  has , also ,according to him,  been largely accountable to the people and he has remained a torchbearer of the parliament.

‘Abbas has earned the respect of members not just because he is a kind and God-fearing man, but because he strives daily for excellence.

Obasanjo tried, albeit unsuccessfully, to bribe members of the National Assembly in his time to support positions that were not in line with the Constitution.

That informed his decision to amend the Constitution through the backdoor, which was rejected by the majority’ he submitted while adding that this  had also shown that apart from the few bad eggs that the former President had in the parliament as collaborators, the majority were still men and women of good conscience who could not sell their country for a pot of porridge.

He also said some former leaders are envious of the excellent  relationship between the executive and the legislature because President Bola Tinubu  has not considered working towards removing  national assembly leaders like it was done in the past.  .

‘They are not happy that Abbas is not like Ghali Na’Abba and the President is making progress to salvage the situation’ he submitted.

Rep Agbese  also added that the Senate President, Goodwill Akpabio, is not like two among his predecessors; Adolphus Wabara and Evans Enwerem,  who were impeached during the Obasanjo era- Team@orientactualmags.com  Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
