2 Suspected Kidnappers Found In Possession Of N11.3m Arrested In Kwara…3 KWASU Off-Campus Robbery Suspects Also In Police Custody
Two men; Suleiman Jamiu and Mumini Mohammed, who were found in possession of a large amount of money in Share, Ifelodun local government, Kwara State have been arrested and taken into custody by the police..

The police are also keeping the 11,363,500 million naira found in their possession while noting that the source of the money is being investigated .
Presiding over the press conference held at the police headquarters, Ilorin on Friday which was attended by journalists including Team@orientactualmags.com, the state police chief, Mr. Adekimi Ojo, a Commissioner of Police, noted that the two chaps were arrested on July 6, 2025, while adding that one of them had been on police watchlist.

‘On the 6th of July, 2025, at approximately 2300hrs, cops attached to the Kwara State Police Command in conjunction with vigilante and local hunters, while conducting a routine surveillance in the Share axis, intercepted two men riding a motorcycle and carrying a bagco bag. The unusual behavior of the rider immediately raised concerns, prompting cops to stop and question them. Upon conducting a search of the bag, the policemen discovered a large amount of money amounting to ₦11,363,500 (Eleven Million, Three Hundred and sequel to background checks, it was discovered that one of the suspects; Suleiman Jamiu (M) had previously been linked to a kidnapping case reported in February2025,during which a ransom of ₦20 million was demanded from the victim’s family.
The suspect had evaded arrest at that time and had been placed on the command’s watchlist as a person of interest in connection with multiple kidnapping-related crimes within the state.
Preliminary intelligence suggests that the cash recovered may represent proceeds of criminal activities, particularly ransom payments from previous or ongoing kidnapping operations. Detectives are currently working on tracing the financial trail and identifying possible accomplices’ he said.
CP Adekimi Ojo has also provided an update on efforts made to tackle off-campus robberies in Kwara State University, Malete, disclosing that three suspects have been arrested and currently facing charges while two suspects are on the run.

‘On 30th May , 2025, the Kwara State Police Command received a case transferred from the Malete Division to the State Criminal Investigation Department(SCID), Ilorin, concerning a case of criminal conspiracy and armed robbery targeting students at the Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete.
According to the report, at about 0430hrs, a Joint Security Patrol Team comprising the Kwara State Police Command , local vigilantes, hunters, and members of the Student Union Government of KWASU apprehended a suspect, later identified as Adamu Nuhu (with no fixed address). He was arrested while carrying a cross bag containing multiple stolen gadgets, including various models of iPhones, earpods, a smartwatch, one Itel Android phone, and other digital accessories, all suspected to have been forcefully taken from students at the institution.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed to participating in a series of coordinated armed robberies that occurred at about 0200hrs on the same day, targeting three separate student hostels in the Malete area. He admitted that he and two other accomplices, identified as Ismaila ‘m’ and one other currently at large), carried out the attack wielding cutlasses and using force to rob approximately fifteen students of their mobile phones and other valuables.
Following intelligence gathered during the investigation, two other suspects; Dauda Amuda and Dare Alabi, both residents of Ilorin were also arrested in connection with the crime. Their roles as collaborators or receivers of stolen property, are being further scrutinized. All arrested individuals have had charges preferred against them are already remanded in correctional center’ he said.
The police chief also disclosed that a resident of Awe village, Asa local government, has been arrested in Ogidi area of Ilorin for illegal possession of firearm while the police have launched a manhunt for the person who he claimed had made it available to him.
‘On the 5th of July, 2025, at about 1800hrs, a police patrol team attached to a tactical unit of the Command, while conducting a stop-and-search operation around the Federal Government College area, Ogidi, Ilorin, intercepted a suspicious unregistered Bajaj motorcycle. The rider, later identified as Saheed Jimoh Adekeja, male, of AweVillage, AsaLocal Government, was subject to a search.
One locally fabricated cut-to-size pistol and several wraps of dried plant material suspected to be Indian hemp were found on him.
The suspect was immediately arrested and transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Ilorin, on the 7th of July, 2025, for further investigation.
During interrogation, the suspect confessed to ownership of the firearm and claimed that it was made available to him by a certain individual known as Muritala, who allegedly instructed him to use it to guard a farm in Awe Village.
