PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has promised to end insecurity in the country especially the North East, reactivate the Lake Chad Basin , and ensure that the government introduces a friendly tax regime in Borno state if elected as president next year.
Atiku, a one-time Vice President, said this while addressing party members and supporters at the campaign rally held at Ramat Square , Maiduguri on Wednesday.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned Atiku and his entourage had earlier paid homage to the Shehu of Borno, Alhaji Abubakar Ibn Umar Garba at his palace.
‘Before I arrived here, I visited the Shehu of Borno, and in his address, he requested us to attend to about four or five issues that are the problems in Borno.
One of them is to restore peace and security in the state. And I promise you that, by the grace of God, if the PDP is elected, we shall restore peace and order in Borno state.
Secondly, he requested us to make sure that we reactivate Chad Basin development so that our farmers can go back to farm so that we can produce food and reduce unemployment.
He requested that we should make sure that the local governments are supplied with electricity, which we have promised to do.
Again, he requested that we should reactivate the exploration of oil in the Chad Basin, which we have promised to do by the grace of God’ Atiku said.
The PDP presidential candidate thanked the Borno state people for coming out in large numbers and for giving him a warm reception while urging them to vote for PDP at all levels in the 2023 general election.
‘People of Borno, we thank you very much for this reception and support. We look forward to the day you will vote for PDP.
Enough of hunger, enough of insecurity, enough of unemployment, enough of suffering, and enough of too much taxation. We will make sure that you are freed from exorbitant taxation’ he said.
In a viral video earlier on Wednesday, it had been alleged that Atiku’s convoy was attacked and that scores of people were injured.
Spokesman for the Atiku Campaign organization, former Senator Dino Malaye, had not only accused the ruling APC of sponsoring hoodlums to attack Atiku’s convoy but had also claimed that 70 people had since been taken to different hospitals.
Though one Danladi Musa Abbas, 32, was arrested and shown to the public by the police for ‘attempting to disrupt Atiku’s convoy on his way to the airport’ , Spokesman for the Nigeria Police Force in the state, Sani Shatambaya, an Assistant Superintendent of Police, told journalists that the purported attack was false.
‘The news of the attack on Atiku Abubakar’s convoy was not only fake but a false and mischievous attempt at confusing Nigerians. There was no attack on Atiku’s convoy’ he said.
Danladi Musa Abbas was according to him arrested while holding a stone but on seeing the police, he had run inside a church where he was arrested.
Shatambaya added that the command had since been in search of Danladi’s accomplices.
Chairman, Borno state APC, Ali Dalori, has also denied that the ruling party sent thugs to attack Atiku’s convoy.
‘I am disappointed by the allegations made by Dino Meleye that some APC thugs attacked Atiku’s convoy while in Maiduguri for their presidential campaign rally,
We all know that since Governor Babagana Zulum took over the mantle of leadership, he had in his acceptance speech on inauguration day announced a ban on political thuggery in the state’ he said- Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
