PDP presidential candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar , enjoys the support of majority of Nigerians and they committedly want him to become the country’s next president , anyone , who therefore chooses not to vote for him in the upcoming presidential election will be having his or her vote placed in the ‘wasted vote’ category, Mr Olawale Rasheed , has submitted.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned Rasheed, who is the spokesman for Osun state governor-elect, former senator Ademola Adeleke and the Director of Media , Atiku Presidential Campaign Council in Osun state, made this assertion during the inauguration of the Iwo Local government chapter of the Atiku/Okowa campaign Council at the weekend.
‘There’s no doubt that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar enjoys massive support of leaders and voters in at least five of the six geopolitical zones in the country. All students of electoral politics will agree that the map favours the Waziri of Adamawa. From the core North to the deep South South and a split of Southwest votes’ he said.
Rasheed also noted that a check across the 19 northern states clearly puts Alhaji Atiku Abubakar in the lead.
‘We cannot afford to make ours belong to the wasted vote category by voting against Alhaji Atiku Abubakar because the people of Osun State will gain a lot if Atiku becomes the president, the PDP candidate is prioritizing true federalism, in form of restructuring and devolution of power. No other candidate has that level of commitment to reforming the federation like the Waziri Adamawa.
The major need of Yoruba people and other Southerners today is how the federation will devolve more powers to the state. Yoruba do not want a big centre, in a suffocating central government that is limiting their potentials for self- growth and development. This same wish of Yoruba people is virtually the aspiration of most Southerners. If anything, Atiku Abubakar is the man that can deliver on federal reforms’ he added.
While commending the Osun state coordinator of Atiku Business Support Group, Honourable Taofeek Amobi for his mobilization effort, he urged the local campaign Council to activate the directive of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar by mobilizing voters directly at the level of polling units.
Responding, the local coordinator of the campaign Council in Iwo local government, Honourable Ibrahim Akala, assured the state campaign council of their readiness to mobilize voters and ensure the victory of Atiku/Okowa in Iwo.
‘We’re ready. Wards and unit structures are ready’ he said- Team@orientactualmags.com
