Acting Corps Marshal of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Dauda Biu, has directed sector commanders to ensure that FRSC officers across the country maintain political neutrality and also avoid any form of participation in political campaign rallies. They were also cautioned against clearing the way for ‘political convoys’.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned Bisi Kazeem, who is the Public Education Officer of the FRSC, said this in a statement issued in Abuja on Tuesday.
He quoted Biu to have noted that this was to put their operation in perspective as activities for the 2023 general election begin to gather momentum.
Biu gave the directive in reference to the FRSC (Establishment) Act which stipulates the status of the Corps as a public service agency that does not have any political affiliation.
He said the FRSC was solely established to provide essential services to all citizens, irrespective of their political interests or representation.
Biu also urged the sector commanders to be sensitive to the plight of motoring public and prepare to tackle traffic gridlock that may be recorded during electioneering.
The Sector Commanders should however according to him ensure adequate deployment of personnel to ease vehicular movement -Team@orientactualmags.com
