2023 General Election: LP Overtakes APGA ,NNPP …Wins Abia Guber Election
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC , on Wednesday announced the Labour Party candidate, Alex Otti as winner of the 2023 Abia State governorship election.
Otti had 175,466 votes while his main rival, the PDP candidate, Okechukwu Ambrose Ahiwe, got 88,526 votes.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned the Returning Officer, Professor Nnenna Oti, declared the LP candidate winner of the election at the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Umuahia, the state capital on Wednesday.
Though, no one among members of the Labour Party is currently holding an appointive or an elective position in the country, the party had since risen from obscurity to become the third most popular political party in the country overtaking APGA and NNPP.
Prior to this time, the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) had controlled Anambra state since 2006 and also did same in Imo state for about four years, it has however been overtaken by LP.
While the NNPP has 2 senators-elect and 18 reps-elect and APGA 1 senator-elect and 4 reps-elect , LP has produced more than forty National Assembly members.
Also, while the national assembly members produced by the NNPP and APGA are limited to Kano and Anambra states respectively those of the LP are from different parts of the country
LP had gotten more seats in the National Assembly than the NNPP and APGA but was not however rated above them because it had not won any state until Wednesday-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
