2023 Guber Election: Shop Owners Close Doors In Kano Over Safety Fears As Tribunal Annuls Gov Abba Yusuf’s Victory
BREAKING: Tribunal sacks NNPP's Abba Yusuf, declares APC's Gawuna winner in Kano

Shop owners in Kano state voluntarily closed their doors on Wednesday evening while people also returned home quicky as a result of safety fears .

There had been a heavy security presence in Kano since Tuesday while seventy per cent of primary schools and high schools in the state did not open on Wednesday. Sources told our reporter that a tense situation currently exists in the state.

This was sequel to the announcement of the decision taken on the petition filed by Alhaji   Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, who was the APC guber candidate.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the Kano state  Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in the ruling delivered virtually on Wednesday declared Alhaji   Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna as winner of the 2023  Kano state gubernatorial election.

Alhaji Gawuna , who is the immediate past Deputy Governor of the state, was the APC candidate in the election in question.

The Returning Officer, Prof. Ahmad Doko Ibrahim , had declared Governor Abba Yusuf, who was the   Kano state NNPP  governorship candidate ,  winner of the  2023 gubernatorial election held on March 18.

Yusuf  got 1,019,602 votes while his main rival, the APC candidate , Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna had  890,705 votes.

The  tribunal in the ruling delivered by Justice Oluyemi Akintan Osadabey however declared Alhaji Nasiru winner of the election after cancelling some votes recorded by the candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party, NNPP.

The three-member  panel  has ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw the certificate of return earlier issued and presented to Governor Yusuf and issue a fresh one in favour of Gawuna.

The  tribunal  deducted 165,663  from the votes gotten by Yusuf which were declared as invalid because the ballot papers were not stamped or signed– -Team@orientactualmags.com
