2023 Kano Guber Election Outcome: ‘Suspense’ Continues As Appeal Court Reserves Judgment

Judgment has been reserved at the Court of Appeal, Abuja in respect of the ruling delivered by the Kano state Governorship Election Petition Tribunal on September 20. Recall that the tribunal had looked into matters that had to do with the outcome of the gubernatorial election held in the state on March 18, 2023, and annulled Governor Abba Yusuf’s victory.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the Court of Appeal  on Monday reserved its ruling on the appeal  filed by the governor.

Recall that the electoral umpire, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) ,  had through the Returning Officer, Prof. Ahmad Doko Ibrahim ,  declared Governor Abba Yusuf, who was the   Kano state NNPP  governorship candidate ,  winner of the  2023 gubernatorial election.

 Yusuf  got 1,019,602 votes while his main rival, the APC candidate , Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna had  890,705 votes.

However, the Kano state  Governorship Election Petition Tribunal in the ruling delivered virtually by Justice Oluyemi Akintan Osadabey on September 20 , declared Alhaji Nasiru Gawuna winner of the election after cancelling some votes recorded by the NNPP candidate.

The three-member panel  had also ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to withdraw the certificate of return earlier issued and presented to Governor Yusuf and issue a fresh one in favour of Gawuna-Team@orientactualmags.com
