Ahead of the 2023 presidential election , former President Olusegun Obasanjo says he has no preferred candidate but rather committed to what he called a ‘ national agenda’.
Obasanjo, who had visited former Head of State, retired General Abdulsalami Abubakar in Minna, Niger state on Sunday , had said he was there to wish the former military ruler a speedy recovery.
“I came to see my brother, who has been a little indisposed. I had plans to visit him when he was still in London, but the day I arrived in London was the day he returned home’ he had said .
Obasanjo , who held a closed-door meeting with Abdulsalami , had arrived at the retired General’s residence at 12:30 and later left at 1:13pm.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the former president when asked who would be his preferred candidate ahead of the 2023 presidential election however said he only had a national agenda and not a preferred candidate.
‘I don’t have a special candidate, I have a national agenda’ he said.
It will be recalled that since he left office as president in 2007, those seeking to become the nation’s president had visited the retired General’s Otta residence to seek his support.
While APC presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu had visited his residence, a few days ago, LP presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi held a meeting with some PDP governors in London last week with Obasanjo leading the way.
Governor Nyesom Wike, who had gotten recognized as leader of the aggrieved PDP governors, was joined by Governor Samuel Ortom, Governor Seyi Makinde and others – Team@orientactualmags.com
