2023 : Prez Buhari, Gov Abdulrazaq, Gov Adeleke, Oyetola, Oba Abdulraheem, Adagunodo Release New Year Messages

2023 : Prez Buhari, Gov Abdulrazaq, Gov Adeleke, Oyetola, Oba Abdulraheem, Adagunodo Release New Year Messages

As Nigerians rang in the New Year at exactly 12 am on Sunday, January 1, political bigwigs in the country as a tradition, delivered their New Year messages to wish Nigerians a brighter future and make them enter 2023 with confidence and joy while emphasizing the need for them to play a role in changing things for the better in the country –being an election year.

President Muhammadu Buhari in his 2023 New Year message to Nigerians, expressed hope that his successor will sustain what he referred to as his good legacies.

President Muhammadu Buhari

‘As we welcome the New Year, let us look with hope to 2023, a year to move forward as a Nation towards unity, progress, and prosperity.

I offer my own personal felicitations, mindful of the various opinions and interpretations of our executive legacies. I welcome and accept both the accolades and criticisms in an equal measure secure in the conviction that I did my best to serve our dear country Nigeria.

And I pray that the next President will also pick up the baton and continue the race to make Nigeria one of the leading countries of the world by the end of this century’ he said.

The President said Nigerians must also be reminded about  the passing of our brothers and sisters who didn’t make it into this New Year, praying that their souls rest in perfect peace.

‘Reflecting on the year 2022 allows us as a government to examine our legacies of successes and challenges. As we celebrate our wins and review obstacles, we all must understand that governance is a continuum, which still places a transitional responsibility on this administration to provide for the incoming government a non-partisan and objective roadmap for 2023.

We as Nigeria; one country united under the will of God and actively growing as an indivisible entity, have been enabled year after year, decade after decade, to weather all stormy waters and emerge stronger and better where others have fallen and disintegrated. This has made us a unique nation across the globe and our continent.

In the year 2023, Nigerians will go to the polls to exercise our right to vote and elect a new administration; it is an important year for our country to ensure that we have another smooth transition of government, to whoever the people have decided upon.

This administration’s landmark Amended Electoral Act will ensure that we have free and fair elections across the Nation. We as Nigerians must also take responsibility to ensure we participate in ensuring that the 2023 elections are free and fair by not engaging in anti-state activities and other nefarious acts that may affect the run of the polls.

We must also resist every attempt to be used by politicians to create unrest in any form to disrupt the elections. We, as a government will ensure such activities are met with the full force of the law.

As our security agencies continue to make the country proud, we must continue to assist our patriotic forces by providing much-needed community intelligence. It is our collective responsibility to ensure that Nigeria remains safe and peaceful for us all.

Therefore, we have a duty and obligation to support our troops and intelligence agencies by being alert and reporting anything suspicious’ he added.

Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun state has sent congratulations to residents and citizens of the state promising to serve the state with fear of God and ensure equity, transparency and accountability.

 Governor Ademola Adeleke

‘My good people of Osun state, it is with high sense of gratitude, hope and commitment that I address you this morning.

The last one year has been very eventful in the life of our state. We have passed through many developments. We have concluded a major election that ushered in a new government under my leadership. Our state transited from one political party to a different political party and also from one government to a government by and for the people.

Despite the tension and anxiety, our state gallantly emerged stronger with your support and goodwill. I put on the record my deep appreciation to you, our people, for your strong support for my political party and I during those struggling days. I promise to remain responsive and accountable to you all as we move to reposition our state for greater height.

In the last one month, our administration has laid a strong foundation for sustainable governance of our state. I opened up in respect of the financial position of the state   and I made this known to the public in the spirit of accountability. I am reforming several sectors to block revenue leakages and stop diversion of state assets. The repositioning of the civil service for professionalism is also ongoing. Urgent state matters are being attended to with a view to restoring normalcy and bringing  our people together for good governance.

Our administration has created a strong working relationship between the three arms of government. We have forged a common understanding to put the interest of the state at the forefront of everything we do. Combined effort, mutual support and impactful governance are hallmarks that have been accepted by all as a path to progress, in the best interest of the state.

Within the same one month, our administration has focused on delivering on its first 100 days in office programme. I have visited several schools, health centres and other public infrastructures. These inspections have strengthened our pre-election data. We are poised to deliver on our first 100 days in office programme which covers infrastructure including    provision of water, rehabilitation of schools and health centres, rehabilitation of roads and delivery of tech innovations for the digital economy.

My good people of Osun state, our administration has a rolling plan of 100 days, six months, one year followed by deliverables in subsequent years. I have also put in place a monitoring and evaluation team. By the end of the first 100 days in office, we will be hosting the maiden edition of our public accountability forum titled ‘Ipade Imole’. We will meet you, the good people of Osun state, and keep you informed of the journey so far.

Permit me to use this occasion to seek the full support of Osun indigenes, home and abroad. Our administration is committed to ensuring a people- based development. Our vision is to enthrone tech- based agro-industrial growth in our state. We plan to address the infrastructure deficit with a cost effective, home -based and labour intensive programme.

To our people in the Diaspora, we are opening up the state for partnership in education, health, trade, investment and tech innovations; we are creating an enabling environment for cooperation to put our state on the global map of development.

In our drive for a new Osun state, I assure you that we will be fair and inclusive in our actions. Like I noted in my inaugural address, the election is over. Now is the time for us all to join hands to move the state forward. In the spirit of brotherhood, I am the Governor of all Osun state people and I will serve the state with  fear of God and ensure equity, transparency and accountability .

I welcome us all to the new year under the umbrella of Almighty God’ he said

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of Kwara state has  also congratulated the people of the state on the dawn of 2023, praying that the new calendar will usher in glad tidings and greater things for everyone in the state and Nigeria in general.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq

The Governor in a statement made available to  Team@orientactualmags.com by his Chief Press Secretary,  Mr Rafiu Ajakaye urged  the people to remain committed to building an inclusive state where public resources will  work for all and everyone can attain their full potentials on the strength of their hard work, talents, and God’s grace — and not necessarily on account of any political affiliation.

‘As Nigeria inches closer to another general election, I appeal to citizens to shun actions or utterances that may jeopardize public peace and safety or put families in danger’ he added.

The governor  also called for continued support for the security agencies while promising that  his administration will continue to pursue programmes, policies and projects that will  deepen opportunities for all, guarantee the dignity of the human person, and reassert the place of Kwara in the northern region and Nigeria as a whole.

The New Year, he noted, offers Kwarans an opportunity to reassert their democratic right to elect leaders who will answer only to the citizens and not to any forces or a clique of powerful individuals in whatever guise.

Former governor of Osun state, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola ,who is  the   Coordinator , Tinubu/Shettima 2023 Presidential Campaign Council, PCC,  has  also felicitated Osun state  Citizens and other  Nigerians on the occasion of the New Year celebration, urging them to approach the New Year and the 2023 general  election with a renewed hope and faith.

He also called for prayers, more sacrifice and commitment to the success of the 2023 General Election.

Oyetola noted that this call became necessary because the current democratic dispensation ‘is the longest in the country’s chequered political history’, and as such all hands must be on deck to sustain and deepen it.

He added that the country has had 24 years of unbroken democratic experience because of   determination, commitment and sacrifice on the part of Nigerians.

Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola

Oyetola in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by his media aide, Mr  Ismail Omipidan,   noted that ‘2023 presents us with another opportunity to sustain our democratic credentials, having enjoyed unprecedented 24 years of unbroken democratic experience’.

‘We must, therefore, approach it with a renewed hope and faith.  I have absolute confidence in the ability of our Presidential candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima, to build on the achievements of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration, and by so doing, delivering accelerated economic growth and development to Nigerians. This is why Nigerians must vote wisely in the presidential election and vote for  the Tinubu/Shettima presidential ticket.

As for Osun citizens, God will never forsake us as we celebrate this New Year. God’s promise will come to fruition in Osun. The sun shall shine again, brighter and warmer, and the sustainable development and participatory governance that we enthroned in our first term, which were applauded by local and international organizations, shall be restored and put on a surer and better footing.

I rejoice with Nigerians, particularly citizens and residents of Osun, on behalf of my family and the Presidential Campaign Council in Osun on the celebration of the New Year — 2023′ the statement said.

PDP National Vice Chairman , South West, Hon Olasoji Adagunodo, has also in his New Year message, congratulated Nigerian citizens  noting  that the outgone year ‘was quite dramatic’ and ‘it is only by the grace of the Almighty God that we are among the living and made to enjoy the privilege to witness the end of the year’.

He acknowledged the strength and determination of Nigerians in the midst of socio-economic and political complications in 2022 urging  them to rejig their undying spirit and enter 2023 with a redefined vigour.

Hon Olasoji Adagunodo

Adagunodo urged Nigerians to use the new year to renew their allegiance to a better Nigeria and communal development by contributing more to nation- building and shunning  all forms of hostile tendencies.

The PDP leader  though  expressed optimism that 2023 would be fulfilling,  this can, however, according to him be achieved only  ‘if political power is returned to the people and government at all levels make the people the centre point of  their policies’ .

He expressed the need for the citizens to vote  for  all PDP  candidates  in the upcoming general election to ensure  a better Nigeria.

‘Notwithstanding our differences, we are one people, under one God with one country to call a home. Therefore, as we enter this New Year with brighter hopes of restoration, let us do so with even a stronger commitment to unity, cooperation and mutual love. I wish every Nigerian a prosperous Year 2023 and I do pray that every family shall find renewal in the New Year’ the PDP leader noted.

Kwara state NNPP gubernatorial candidate, Professor Shuaib Oba Abdulraheem,  has also congratulated and wished residents and citizens of Kwara state a happy and prosperous new year.

Professor Oba, a former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ilorin ,and a one-time Chairman of the Federal Character Commission, FCC, has also called on Kwarans  to make a difference together in 2023.

Professor Shuaib Oba Abdulraheem

Noting that the opportunity ‘is ripe to change things for the better in Kwara state’, Professor Oba in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com however submitted that this would demand that the people be immutably resolved to get it right this time around. ‘Kwara is counting on you again’ he noted.

‘The people of the state must be determined, they must show commitment to ensuring a good future for the state and they must make this dwarf other considerations like personal gains, monetary influence and parochial interests.

The emergence of a governor that will conscientiously cater for the interest of the governed can only be realized if the people can muster the enormous courage required to resist the anticipated pressure that will come from all quarters.

I wish my dear Kwarans a wonderful New Year and I hope it brings them many blessings’ the statement added- Team@orientactualmags.com
