2023 Teacher’s Day: PDP Praises Kwara Teachers’ Dedication , Accuses Gov AbdulRazaq Of Failing To Fulfill Campaign Promises

Kwara state PDP has commended teachers in the state and Nigeria as a whole for their role in nation-building as they join their counterparts  across the world to celebrate the 2023 Teachers’ Day.

The state PDP in a statement issued in Ilorin to mark the 2023 Teacher’s Day which was   made available to  Team@orientactualmags.com by its Publicity Secretary, Mr. Olusegun Olusola Adewara, on Thursday praised  the commitment  of teachers in the state and their unwavering commitment to the Kwara state project while alleging that they have done this under a terrible working environment.

The party  has also accused the state governor, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq of failing to fulfill his 2019 campaign promises.

‘The party reminds teachers in Kwara state  of the plethora of promises made to them by the APC/Otoge crusaders before their eventual enthronement in 2019, the Abdulrazaq administration  has not only reneged on those promises but has also made lives more difficult for teachers despite the huge cash inflow to the state in form of federal allocations, internally generated revenue, irrational loans and bonds and even several international aids which are not being disclosed to kwarans .

For  the record, teachers, especially at the local government level, were major targets of propaganda   by the APC/otoge crusaders during  the 2019 electioneering. These propagandists who are now in government made elephants-sized and unrealistic promises, which unfortunately captured the emotions of the teacher and made them  make uninformed decisions .

Some of the fake promises made to SUBEB teachers include increasing their salaries and ensuring that teachers in neighboring states like Osun, Ondo, Ekiti, Kogi , Oyo etc earn less than teachers in Kwara.

They also promised to clear the backlogs of salary arrears owed as a result of the then  economic recession .

Another promise is that teachers will have access to affordable housing and cars if they are voted into office.

The worst is that most of these promises were made at sacred places like mosques, churches, and via radio stations. Our question is, are teachers in Kwara receiving a salary equivalent to those in Lagos today?

It is therefore ungodly that shortly after his inauguration; Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq dissociated himself from all the promises and even tore the APC campaign manifesto claiming he was not consulted before those promises were made to teachers and Kwarans. This is a great insult to the sensibilities of our teachers who were deceived, cajoled, and emotionally defrauded by the APC propaganda’ the statement said.

‘Despite the claim that N14 billion has been expended on education, the number of out-of-school children has been on the rise since 2019. Kwara state is still nowhere to be found in the current JAMB performance ranking by states. Our classrooms are still in a sorry state, Teachers have no staff rooms, and some of them teach under shades of palm trees, especially in the rural areas’ the party submitted .

The statement also alleged that the Kwara Learn project has failed while condemning increase in tuition fees by public tertiary institutions in the state-  Team@orientactualmags.com
