The presidential jet transporting Vice President Kashim Shettima to the United States of America returned to the departure airport on Monday, a development that made the Vice President cancelled his trip to the God’s own country.

Shettima  had planned to attend the 2024 US-Africa Business Summit in Dallas, Texas.

The Summit is expected to bring together more than 1,500 U.S. and African public and private sector executives including Heads of State, international investors, U.S. and African government officials, and multilateral stakeholders.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that his Senior Special Assistant  on Media & Communications , Stanley Nkwocha,  who disclosed this  in a statement he issued  on Monday, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, will now represent President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the  summit .

He added that Vice President Kashim Shettima ,who was earlier  mandated to stand in  for  the president was unable to make the trip ‘following a technical fault with his aircraft, forcing him to make a detour on the advice of the Presidential Air Fleet’.

The statement however noted that  the Vice President will carry on with other national duties.

‘The high-profile summit, taking place at the Kay Bailey Hutchison Convention Center, will bring together political and business leaders from across Africa, the United States, and other regions. It will  feature high-level dialogues, networking sessions, and plenaries’ he said

Among the African heads of state expected to attend the summit are President Joseph Boakai of Liberia, President Lazarus Chakwera of Malawi, President Joao Lourenço of Angola, President Mokgweetsi E.K. Masisi of Botswana, President José Maria Neves of Cabo Verde, and Deputy Prime Minister Nthomeng Majara of Lesotho.
