The commendable roles played by Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq , Engineer Nurudeen Adeyemi Balogun, Bundies Care Support Initiative (BCSI), Ilorin, Global Shapers Community, Wellbeing Foundation Africa (WBFA)/Reckitt and others in building and developing critical thinking skills in Kwara State learners was on Tuesday acknowledged by Dr Idowu l. Olagunju, who is the Secretary-General of the Nigerian National Commission for UNESCO (NATCOM) .

He noted that building critical thinking skills in young learners will help them to make informed decisions, approach challenges with confidence and perseverance and also promote overall personal development.
NATCOM which was established in 1963, and placed under the Federal Ministry of Education is the official body in charge of Nigeria’s engagement with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization(UNESCO).
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Dr Idowu , who said this while giving his speech during the 20th anniversary of the Teens’ Dream Initiative (TDI) at Emmanuel Baptist Church, Sabo Oke, Ilorin, Kwara State on Tuesday, also commended the organization for the tireless efforts made in nurturing the potential of young people, equipping them with the values, knowledge, and skills to become positive change-makers in their respective communities.
The event was held in commemoration of the 2025 International Children’s Day.
The focus on ‘Raising Ambassadors of Rectitude’, Dr Idowu Olagunju added, emphasized the importance of instilling strong moral values and principles in the young people as this will make them become responsible leaders and citizens.
The activities of the organization according to him embodies the spirit of international cooperation and solidarity essential for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals while adding that UNESCO is in support of any organization that prioritizes the well-being, education, and development of children and adolescents.
The NATCOM top official also specially commended Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq for the strides his administration has made in the education sector while also praising the ‘Readership for Global Leadership project’ which is Engineer Nurudeen Adeyemi’s brainchild.
Chief Nurudeen Adeyemi, an aero space engineer, is a member of the Board of Trustees of TETFUND.

Recently, the National Commission approved the Readership for Global Leadership project in partnership with Disinter Global Concept under Global Citizenship Education (GCED), to be piloted in selected ASPnet schools in Kwara South.
