2026 Osun Guber: INEC Holds ‘Stakeholder Meeting’ In Osogbo Ahead Of Electioneering
As residents of Osun State look forward to going to the polls on August 15, 2026, the nation’s electoral body, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) on Tuesday, March 3, 2026, convened an expanded ‘stakeholder meeting’ ahead of formal commencement of electioneering by the political parties.
Mr Musa Olorode, who is the spokesman for INEC in Osun State, noted in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com that the meeting, which brought together representatives of political parties, security agencies, civil society organizations, the media, and other critical stakeholders, was aimed at reinforcing collective commitment toward a credible, transparent, and peaceful electoral process.

Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Mutiu Olaleke Agboke, in his opening remarks, emphasized that all the stakeholders are partners united by a common goal which is to ensure a peaceful and enabling environment for the upcoming guber election scheduled to hold on August 15, 2026.
He noted that the success of the electoral process depends not only on INEC but also on responsible conduct on the part of political parties, candidates, supporters, security agencies, and the electorate at large.
Dr Agboke added that there are critical responsibilities each stakeholder must uphold in their individual capacities to foster a democratic process that truly reflects the will of the people of Osun State while urging political actors to make campaigns issue-based and conduct it within the framework of the law.
Speaking on the essence and objectives of political campaigns, the REC noted that the primary objective of a political rally is to educate voters about candidates’ policies, aspirations, and plans for governance. He cautioned against the misuse of campaigns as platforms for inflammatory rhetoric, misinformation, or actions capable of undermining public peace.
For emphasis, he reiterated that campaigns are an integral component of democratic practice which are not merely ceremonial displays of strength but are constitutionally and legally recognized avenues for:
‘Presentation of policy alternatives and manifestos to the electorate;
Education of voters about party ideology and governance philosophy;
Mobilization of lawful support through persuasion and engagement; and strengthening of democratic participation and political consciousness’.
INEC further assured stakeholders of its readiness to conduct the election in strict compliance with the Electoral Act and relevant guidelines-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
