2026 Osun Guber Primary Elections: Adhere Strictly To 2022 Electoral Act, INEC Tells PDP,APC, ADC, Others
As the political parties get prepared for their primary elections ahead of the 2026 Osun State gubernatorial election, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Osun State under Resident Electoral Commissioner, Dr. Mutiu Agboke’s leadership has urged all the registered political parties to strictly adhere to the provisions of the Electoral Act, 2022, and the electoral body’s Guidelines and Regulations for the conduct of party primaries.
The electoral body also emphasized the need for the conduct of free, fair and peaceful primary elections that reflect the will of the party members as panacea for reduction of pre-election litigations.
INEC, Osun State office, in a statement issued in Osogbo and made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by its spokesman, Mr Olurode Musa noted that primary elections have often been ‘a source of pre-election litigations which can be avoided if parties follow the laid-down procedures and guidelines’.

The statement urged all political parties to ensure that their primaries are conducted in a transparent, democratic, and peaceful manner, and that all aspirants are given equal opportunities to participate.
‘The exercise, according to the guidelines released by the National Headquarters of the Commission is scheduled to hold between 24th November and 15th December, 2025.
We are prepared to provide necessary support and guidance to parties to ensure that their primaries are conducted in accordance with the law. We call on all stakeholders, including security agencies, to support us in our efforts to ensure peaceful and credible party primaries.
