2026: Osun PDP Says APC Chairman Has Grandiose Dream Of His Party …Condemns Ex-Speaker Owoeye’s Remarks

Osun state PDP on Friday  advised the All Progressive Congress (APC) to  stop hoping that it will dislodge the ruling party in the state in 2026.

The party also said the ‘electoral concussion-induced sensitization visit’   embarked upon by the APC ‘is another round of tactless jamboree of immortality champions, merely seeking to exploit remnants of their members as usual’.

The State PDP  Chairman, Hon. Sunday Bisi in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com condemned  the remarks made by APC leaders during the ‘sensitization visit’ in question while describing Sooko Tajudeen Lawal’s remarks as a confirmation of the lack of direction of the state APC even in opposition.

‘Lawal and his associates  have exhibited a profound ignorance of good governance. Their criticisms since assuming the role of opposition reveal their ineptitude in understanding participatory administration in a truly democratic society.

The APC Chairman’s criticism of the current Osun State government could only stem from a blind mind with demented optic nerves, considering their party’s track record of failure and the giant stridess the administration has made within just one year.

Anyone referring to the present government as having ‘nothing to offer’ simply smacks of a lack of insight or perhaps due to selective memory on the part of the party of the politically handcuffed robbers, who have feasted illegally on the common patrimony of the state, after benefiting from the most widely acknowledged rigged election in Nigeria.

The assertion that the current administration has nothing to offer starkly contrasts the prevailing reality of tremendous progress in almost all sectors of development in the state.

The APC Chairman out of mischief conveniently overlooked the twelve years of rudderless governance under the APC, leaving behind a legacy of humongous debt burden weighing heavily on the state’s progress. This debt, accrued during the APC’s tenure, remains a caustic testament to their fiscal mismanagement.

Moreover, the dilapidated state of the civil service, a consequence of wicked neglect and mismanagement under Lawal’s party , cannot be overlooked. The current administration has worked to rectify this ugly tag and the civil service is now beaming in dignity as required by global standard practice.

Rather than orchestrating mere sensitization programmes for the party, Lawal should redirect his efforts towards acknowledging and taking responsibility for the damage his party inflicted on Osun state. Begging the people for forgiveness and understanding for the mismanagement, debt accumulation, and neglect of critical sectors like the civil service should be the priority.

Osun people have endured the consequences of the APC’s governance and are resolute in their stance: never again will they entertain the prospect of an APC-led administration  in this state. It’s time for Lawal and his party to come to terms with their past mistakes and focus on taking responsibility rather than baseless criticisms.

The future of Osun state necessitates a departure from the misguided policies and arrogant leadership of the past. Osun people are resolute and united in their rejection of APC in totality. The Opposition members are advised not to fall victim to internal scam that Lawal and his journeymen are orchestrating against them as usual of their habit’ he said.

In separate statement that was made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by  the state Publicity Secretary, Hon. Ayodeji Areola, Osun state PDP has also  hit out at former Speaker of  the state House of Assembly, Timothy Owoeye for making negative remarks  about the current administration in the state.

‘Owoeye’s assertion that the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has achieved nothing since taking power from the All Progressives Congress (APC) reflects the huge bitterness driving him around, we urge the former speaker to move on with whatever remains of his life to enable him regain objective consciousness about the one-year-old reign of PDP administration.

Owoeye should be corrected in his bitterness that it was the Osun People who rejected his party and not the fallacious pains he and other crusaders of failure exhibited in Ilesa, the epicenter of APC rejection in the state.

Had APC rented more mercenaries as Owoeye contemplated in the last election, he would still have lost as woefully as he did.  So, it was the moonlight story of an embittered soul for Owoeye to attribute the disenchantment of some of his party members to the electoral earthquake that swallowed him and his APC failed regime.

It suffices to remind Owoeye that his rejection at the polls did not only manifest in the 2022 governorship battle but reflected effectively in the elections held in February and March during   which the good people of Osun state stood their ground and maintained their resolve against APC prodigality in the state.

The electoral verdict of the people,  notably the 2022 Gubernatorial Polls, alongside other national elections,  was a firm referendum against the APC and it  confirmed the overwhelming decision of Osun people rather than unavoidable internal rifts within political parties. The Osun populace is not pawns to APC’s insatiable greed and having made to experience people-oriented governance in the past one year, it becomes easy for them to spot the differences between perpetual promises and real achievements.

Contrary to Owoeye’s claims, Governor Adeleke administration has embarked on rectifying the rots fiscal rascality which characterized APC administration. Numerous abandoned projects have now been revitalized, with some already completed. The governor’s commitment to addressing these infrastructural deficits demonstrates his avowed dedication to the development of the state.

The dichotomy between the ‘Ojelu’ (the past administration) and the ‘Oselu’ (the present administration) is apparent now as our people can readily see. Governor Adeleke’s non-vindictive approach to governance stands in contrast to mere promises of progress without any cognitive action. Initiatives aimed at reviving infrastructure and bolstering key sectors of economy  of Osun state are already yielding visible results.

Perhaps, the only thing the government of Governor Ademola Adeleke has refused to do so far this past year is to engage in activities leading to the carnage of the bloodbath, which remained a very dark spot in the democratic trajectory of Osun state during the calamitous APC regime .

Moreover, it’s imperative to recognize that the pursuit of political power should not override the paramount goal of all-inclusive growth as envisioned by the founding fathers of the state. The moribund desire exhibited by Owoeye and his party to regain control of the state seems rooted in self-interest rather than a genuine commitment to the state’s advancement.

The future of Osun and that of the people should not be held hostage by the political ambition of a few; instead, it should be steered by a collective desire for progress and development. Owoeye and his party have shown that their desperation to return to power is for their selfish interest because every lover of Osun development is strongly in support of Governor Adeleke.

Those genuinely interested in Osun’s prosperity would acknowledge the positive impact made within a year on Governor Adeleke’s watch and actively support his re-election when it is time’ the statement said-Team@orientactualmags.com
