The 22 APC governors, the National Working Committee of the party, and Principal Officers of the Senate and the House of Representatives gave a boost to President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid on Thursday by declaring him as the party’s sole presidential candidate for the 2027 presidential election.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that this decision was announced by Chairman of the Progressive Governors’ Forum, Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State during the National Summit held by the party at the Banquet Hall, State House, Abuja on Thursday.
The summit had as its theme ‘Renewed Hope Agenda: The Journey So Far’.
Uzodimma moved the motion for Tinubu’s adoption as the party’s sole candidate while the PGF Vice Chairman, Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State seconded the motion.
A voice vote was subsequently taken and it got a standing ovation from the attendees of the summit including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, members of the National Assembly, serving and former governors, and APC members from across the country.
The National Working Committee of the APC has also followed suit and declared President Bola Tinubu as the party’s sole presidential candidate.
APC National Chairman, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje announced this on behalf of members of the National Working Committee during the party’s National Summit held in Abuja on Thursday.
That was not all, principal officers of the Nigerian Senate and the House of Representatives have also declared support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election asserting that the country is currently on the path of growth and progress.
The Senate President, Barrister Godswill Akpabio, who moved the motion during the APC National Summit in Abuja on Thursday, noted that the 2023 election posed significant challenges for President Tinubu while things would be made easy this time around.
Akpabio, who was flanked by Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, Deputy Senate President, Barau Jibrin, and Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu, among others, said the president will win in more states in the 2027 presidential election than he did in 2023.
‘If this President has done well, isn’t it our responsibility to say so? And if he hasn’t done well, isn’t it also our duty to serve him a notice of impeachment?
We are not giving him a notice of impeachment. We are giving him a notice that it was difficult for him in 2023 but in 2027, I see everything turning around. I see things change. The number of states that are coming to join you is growing.
As I was leaving today, a senator grabbed my dress and said, please take me there. I told him, ‘You can’t come now’. And he is a Labour Party senator, I won’t mention his name.
But just imagine, he is a Labour Party senator, pleading to be brought in. This reflects the political sagacity of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’ he said.
The Senate President subsequently declared President Bola Tinubu as the party’s sole presidential candidate urging other Nigerians to also do so.
‘Despite very difficult times, he has managed to set Nigeria on the path to growth, confirmed by the international community and by the International Monitoring Forum.
It is evident that Nigerians, especially those at the grassroots, are very enthusiastic. Even members of the National Assembly and senators have said they’ve never had it this good.
I hereby move, and let it be moved that not only should President Bola Ahmed Tinubu be the sole presidential candidate of the APC in 2027, but he should also be the unanimous choice of the Nigerian people.
All other political parties are in disarray. I went to my state and saw the PDP’s umbrella, it had over 100 holes. Very soon, you will hear the news, though it’s not my place to announce it. But I know the National Chairman has already hinted at it, everything (political structure) in the South-South has collapsed in your favor.
This reflects what is happening across the nation. Nigerians are saying that because you have handled a difficult job successfully, it’s time we reward you by returning you to the Presidency for a second term.
Therefore, as the Senate President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I move that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu return, first, as the APC’s sole presidential candidate, and secondly, as Nigeria’s next President in 2027’ he added-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
