3 Cops Among Victims As Argungu-Birnin Kebbi Expressway Crash Leaves 6 Dead
The crash recorded on Argungu-Birnin Kebbi road on Tuesday has left six people including three policemen dead.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned Spokesman for the Kebbi state police command, Abubakar Nafi’u, a Superintendent of Police, confirmed the incident in a statement issued in Birnin Kebbi on Wednesday.
‘The accident occurred when a Carina E car, carrying jerricans containing petrol which we suspected to have been pursued by a Nigeria Customs Service patrol team from Birnin Kebbi.
On getting to Jeda village, the Carina E car had a head-on collision with a Bullion van, which as a result went up in flames and it consumed three other cars.
Consequently, a total of five vehicles and one motorcycle were burnt to ashes.
Six people including three policemen also died in the inferno, while five other people and three policemen sustained varying degrees of injuries and were rushed to the Federal Medical Center, Birnin Kebbi for medical attention’ he said.
Nafi’u said the Commissioner of Police, Ahmed Magaji-Kontagora, had since visited the scene of the accident .
‘Magaji-Kontagora is also assuring members of the public that a thorough investigation will be carried out to unravel the circumstances surrounding the unfortunate incident’ he added- Team@orientactualmags.com
