37-Year-Old Man Kills Neighbour During Swordfight In Akwa Ibom
A 34-year-old man, Ekopimo Effiong Moses has succumbed to injuries sustained in a swordfight with a neighbor, Joseph Eren in Ibesikpo Local Government, Akwa Ibom State.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that spokesperson for the state police command, Timfon John, who disclosed this in a statement she issued on Sunday, noted that the two men had engaged in a heated argument that led to a swordfight.
The incident occurred on Thursday, September 11, 2025, at about 6 pm and they had attacked each other using their respective cutlasses.
A cutlass is a short curving sword.
‘The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested a suspect in connection with the death of a man following a violent altercation in Ibesikpo Asutan Local Government.
On Thursday, September 11, 2025, at approximately 6:00 pm, cops received a report from a village head (name withheld).
The village head stated that the community’s youth president, Ekopimo Effiong Moses, a 34-year-old male, had a misunderstanding with Joseph Okon Eren, a 37-year-old male who resides in the village but is originally from Ikot Obiondobo in Uruan LGA.
The disagreement escalated into a physical fight, during which both men used machetes. Ekopimo Effiong Moses sustained severe injuries and was rushed to the Hospital for urgent medical treatment he was however declared as a Brought-in-Dead patient by the doctor on duty.
The suspect, Joseph Okon Eren, has been arrested and he is currently in police custody. A machete, believed to be the weapon used in the incident, has been recovered. The body of the deceased person has been deposited at the morgue’ the statement said.
The state police command, she added, has launched a discreet investigation into the incident and further details would be communicated to the public as the investigation progresses-Team@orientactualmags.com
