4 –Day- Old Baby Dies In Bauchi After Liquid Insecticide Was Applied To His Umbilical Cord… Stepmother Arrested

A 24-year-old woman, Furera Abubakar,  has been arrested and taken into custody by the police in Bauchi state . She has been accused of rubbing liquid insecticide on her co-wife’s four-day-old baby which resulted in his death.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that  spokesman for the police in the state , Ahmed Wakil disclosed this in a statement issued in Bauchi  noting that  the incident occurred in  Bantu Village ,  Ningi Local Government .

‘Policemen  attached to the Bauchi state Police Command have arrested Furera Abubakar, female (24) of Bantu village, Ningi Local Government , Bauchi state for the offence of culpable homicide.

The incident was reported at the Ningi divisional police headquarters on the 19th of August, 2023 , the four-day-old baby was born on the 15th of August, 2023 and  he was murdered by the suspect, Furera Abubakar, on the 19th of August, 2023 before the naming ceremony.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect is the nursing mother’s co-wife.

The suspect entered the co-wife’s room with insecticide liquid (Gramalin) and rubbed it on the  baby’s umbilical cord.

The liquid which was suspected to be corrosive, affected, and led to the deterioration of the baby’s health and  eventually led to his death.
