44-Year- Old Man Arrested After Allegedly Getting Caught With Illegal Firearms At APC Rally In Kwara
Kwara state police command disclosed on Monday that a young man, Safi Abolaji, has been arrested in the state capital and taken into custody after illegal firearms were found in his possession at the rally organized by the state APC in Ilorin.
Mr Ajayi Okasanmi, a Superintendent of Police, in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com alleged that Safi Abolaji had firearms ; two locally- made short-guns in hos possession at the rally organized by the ruling APC in Ojuekun Sarumi area, Ilorin on January 29, 2023.
The statement also alleged that Safi is a member of the PDP.
‘Acting swiftly on intelligence report that, at the APC campaign rally held at Ojuekun Sarumi area, Ilorin on January 29, 2023, at about 1530 hrs, one Safi Abolaji AKA Ojulari ‘M’ , 44, of Kankatu area, Ilorin, was overpowered by public-spirited persons and policemen while two locally- made short-guns with cartridges and some charms were found in his possession.
During custodial interrogation, the suspect, who confessed to being an active member of the Aye confraternity, and who was also just recently released from a correctional facility, could not sufficiently explain his presence at the rally, having confirmed that he is a member of the People Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.
An investigation into the matter is ongoing to establish his motive and to arrest other members of his cult group.
The Commissioner of Police in Kwara State, CP Paul Odama, psc (+), has for the umpteenth time warned criminal elements to change their ways or leave the state, as the command would not leave any stone unturned in making Kwara a state that will create an enabling environment for all positive human endeavors.
