Governor Biodun Oyebanji has ordered the General Manager of Ekiti state Sports Council, Mr. Adekunle Adeyemi, to return to Ado-Ekiti immediately .
Adekunle, who had led athletes from the state to the ongoing 7th National Youth Games in Asaba, Delta state, has been asked to hand over to the next most senior official and return home immediately.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the governor took the decision to sanction the GM for failing to ensure that things were done properly and for allowing athletes from the state, who had dressed badly, to participate in the march-past during the opening ceremony.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by Commissioner for Information, Taiwo Olatunbosun, which was titled, ‘EKSG recalls GM, Sports Council from National Youth Games over athletes’ poor kitting.’
‘Adeyemi is expected to explain circumstances leading to the state athletes dressing badly during the opening session of which the photograph is circulating online’ he said.
The commissioner, who described this development , as unfortunate, asserted that ‘the state government had made adequate provision for the team’s participation in the games’.
He restated Governor Oyebanji’s commitment to providing platforms for Ekiti youths to exhibit their God-given talents in line with the youth development and job creation agenda of his administration-Team@orientactualmags.com
