8 Years Of Unreciprocated Support: A Call For Change In Ogun State-Ekundina Segun Elvis

As I reflect on the past 6 years of the Governor Dapo Abiodun administration in Ogun State, I am reminded of my unwavering support and commitment to their cause. From the 2019 campaign trails to the 2023 elections, I have been a vocal advocate and an active participant in mobilizing support for Prince Dr. Dapo Abiodun.

Despite facing harsh weather conditions, opposition attacks, and personal sacrifices, I have remained steadfast in my dedication. I recall that I was on the memorable campaign trail in Ayetoro, Yewa North Local Government, where I braved the rain to ensure the success of the governor’s re-election campaign .

My efforts were not limited to that occasion alone, as I consistently took part in the campaign trails and visited all the 20 local government often going above and beyond to promote the governor’s agenda.

However, despite my loyalty and hard work, I have not benefited in any way from the government’s initiatives. Instead, I have been subjected to name-calling, blackmail, and labeling. It’s disheartening to see that my efforts have been met with such a disregard.

As we approach the 2027 elections, I am compelled to reevaluate my priorities and make decisions that align with my values and interests. I urge those preparing to take over from this current administration to take note of the sacrifices made by supporters and consider their welfare in their future plans.

The time for change is here, and it’s essential for leaders to recognize the value of their loyal supporters. I hope that in the future, my efforts will be recognized and rewarded accordingly-Ekundina Segun Elvis, a student unionist and politician, writes from Abeokuta, Ogun State
