Naira Crisis: Ooni Postpones 2023 Aje Festival Indefinitely
The Ooni of Ife, Ooni Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi , on Tuesday, announced that the 2023 Aje Festival has been postponed indefinitely citing the current scarcity of petrol and new naira notes in the country and its concomitant hardships.
The Arole Oodua’s Director of Media & Public Affairs , Mr Moses Olafare , who disclosed this in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com , noted that this decision was taken during the meeting held by the Ife Traditional Council under the supreme leadership of the Ooni.
‘The decision to postpone the popular Aje festival was taken in solidarity with Nigerians especially because of the scarcity of Naira notes, fuel and other basic needs that should have made life better for all.
The Ooni is concerned as a father and he has held meetings with Iyalaje Oodua, Princess Toyin Kolade, who is the Festival Coordinator, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that things get fixed as he continues to pray for the country.
A new date will be announced after the upcoming Presidential election’ the statement said.
