Naira Crisis: Vote Out APC, Public Demonstration Not ‘Best Course Of Action’ -Saraki, Ali Ahmad

Naira Crisis: Vote Out APC, Public Demonstration Not ‘Best Course Of Action’ -Saraki, Ali Ahmad

Former Senate President , Dr  Abubakar Bukola Saraki on Wednesday called for calm following  the protests recorded  in the Ilorin metropolitan area earlier in the day.

There had been  growing tension in the state and other parts of the country sequel to the scarcity of petrol and new naira notes  and its concomitant hardships.

Saraki in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by his media office told Kwarans and other Nigerians that public protests cannot be the best course of action but that they should rather vote out the APC in the upcoming 2023 general election.

Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki

‘I hereby appeal to the good people of Kwara State who went on protest earlier today over the continued  scarcity of petrol and the new naira notes to please maintain peace and remain calm.

One can understand how these two negative developments have created untold hardship for our people. It is indeed a difficult time.

However, while calling on the Kwara State Government to immediately introduce measures that will alleviate the suffering of the people, I want to urge our people that instead of embarking on any violent protest, they should express their grievances during the coming elections by voting against all the candidates of the party that has brought this needless crisis.

Our people have endured a lot of hardship from this government.

Governance is about solving the problems confronting the people. Where the government has failed in that regard, the people should reject such a party and its candidates at the polls. And this should be done peacefully’ he said.

Kwara state PDP Campaign Council in separate statement  issued by  its Director General , Prof. Ali Ahmad,  has also followed suit arguing that  truly the best approach is to vote out the APC in the 2023 general election.

‘We have monitored the viral videos of the ongoing protests in various areas of Kwara State by aggrieved residents over the hardships caused by the insensitive, poor planning, and lack of focus  on the part of the APC-led Administration in the country.

We in the Kwara State PDP empathize with our people and we understand the hardships they are experiencing over the scarcity of fuel and the inability to access cash for their legitimate business transactions.

It is however important that we do not allow the legitimate protests to be seized by hoodlums who might intend to exploit the situation to cause further crisis and endanger the lives and property of residents. That is why we advise that the residents direct their anger to rejection of the APC and all its candidates at the polls as a way of showing their displeasure with a government that has failed the people on all fronts.

Nigerians will recall that the hardship being experienced now are not only unprecedented but they are also direct products of cluelessness and lack of proper planning, all of which never happened when the PDP was in power.

We also use this opportunity to appeal to the various government agencies responsible for handling issues of fuel and currency supply and circulation to step up their games, think out of the box and respond positively to the yearnings of the people. They must immediately devise new methods of supplying the new currency notes and fuel so as to make the items easily available for the people. We must alleviate the suffering of the people because government exists to serve the people and continuously improve their standard of living’ the statement said- Team@orientactualmags.com
