Naira Crisis: Senator Yahaya Oloriegbe Empathizes With Constituents, Urges Calm
Senator Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe of Kwara Central on Wednesday empathized with his constituents while appealing for calm.
He has done this in reaction to the growing tension in Ilorin, the Kwara state capital, and other parts of the country sequel to the scarcity of petrol and new naira notes and its concomitant hardships.
The senator has urged indigenes and residents of his senatorial district to remain calm and peaceful pending the time that relevant authorities will come up with favourable resolutions and address the issues.
The federal lawmaker in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by his media aide, Mr Bolaji Aladie assured that all hands are on deck to ensure that the situation is brought under control as soon as possible to protect the livelihoods of the masses which have been grounded since the introduction of the policy.
‘I feel concerned as a leader and a member of my community , I want to appeal to the people of Nigeria especially my constituents to remain peaceful and calm pending the time the government will take remedial steps and bring the situation under control.
The policy, albeit being well-intentioned, is leaving much to desire due to poor implementation by the concerned authorities, as such, majority of Nigerians have had their days filled with anguish and frustration and this is already getting out of control.
The protests and venting of anger by our people as demonstrated today in the Ilorin metropolitan area and other places are justifiable; however, we must not lose our sanity while fighting a just cause. We must refrain from destroying individuals and government property to show our displeasure, doing so, would leave us with nothing, but more losses which can be avoided if we consider the importance of peace. We should not forget that our community is known for peace and harmony; we must uphold this enviable value jealously.
I want to assure you that, we, your representatives at the National Assembly, are leaving no stone unturned. We are with you. We share your pain. And, we are doing everything lawful and necessary with other stakeholders to ensure that we win this together and smile very soon together’ the statement said – Team@orientactualmags.com
