Suspicious INEC Complicity In Osun’s Controversial Presidential, NASS Elections- Kola Olabisi

The last may not have been heard about the jaw- dropping performance of the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the presidential and National Assembly elections in the state where the PDP candidates were declared winners of all the elections by the national electoral umpire, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

The results of the elections in Osun State have been a source of worry not only to the members and supporters of the party within the country but from beyond the shores of this nation.  Having pondered over the seemingly unsavoury plight of the Osun State chapter of the APC, the findings revealed by my subconscious in the dead of the night is damning and worrisome.

A thief, who is a nincompoop, steals dirty so as to reveal the track of his anti-social and criminal act while the other one who is endowed with wisdom and tact introduces ingenuity into his nefarious and illicit chosen means of survival.  By the time that the nitty-gritty of the scripted shameful, opprobrious and disrespectable connivance involvement of the actors in the last elections in the state is made known to the public, it will shake the INEC to its foundation.

I sympathize with some of the APC members and supporters who are not blessed with the possession of hindsight as they have started their blame games of the leaders of the party without taking their time to do the holistic retrospection of our plight which is beyond the ordinary.  On the other hand, it may be successfully justifiable for the blame gamers among the APC  members to intuitively and spontaneously find themselves in their current state because there is more to the declared presidential and National Assembly elections results in Osun State than meets the eye.

Whoever has ever fallen victim to internet fraudsters will not agree less with me that the fraudsters codenamed Yahooyahoo guys are fond of using the same methods to fleece their victims.

Experience over the years has shown that while some unfortunate people fall victims easily at all times, others are instantly brought to their senses in order to prevent being unjustifiably deprived of their possession which may be in cash or an item.

One does not need to be a soothsayer or a rocket scientist to know that the APC is the dominant political party in Osun State and it’s the wish of all the  members and supporters that their political party must put in a brighter showing at any election. That was exactly what the APC members did.  Each time that there was any outing for the APC in the state, the turnout of the willing  members  was always hyper-massive.

The presidential campaign rally of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu that was held at the popular Nelson Mandela Freedom Park, Osogbo, Osun State, on February 2, 2023 was filled up beyond capacity to the extent that the APC presidential candidate found it impossible to alight from the campaign vehicle that brought him and his political lieutenants which was the reason why he had to address his teeming jubilant supporters from the vehicle.  We were in this Osogbo when the presidential candidate of the PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, hit  the campaign trail in the state capital. It would not be an understatement to describe the event as a funeral procession. Where then were those who voted for Atiku and the PDP National Assembly candidates during the elections held last Saturday?

I put it to whoever cares to believe that the last Saturday’s elections in Osun State were held by its umpire to shore up its dwindling credibility which is a matter for contention in the Court of Appeal.  It is not possible for the APC to lose the presidential election and all other National Assembly elections based on the popularity of the party in the state.  It is suspected that the INEC  electronically marked down the Osun State APC in the elections because the party has an over voting charge which was affirmed by the tribunal to defend in the Court of Appeal.

Simply because the sacked Governor Ademola Adeleke and the state chapter of the PDP have been working in cahoots with the INEC in order to get at their common enemy, the Osun State APC,  the sit-tight state caretaker committee chairman of the party, Dr Akindele Adekunle and Adeleke, were singing like canary birds, justifying the results of the elections, even before it was officially announced, that it was a proof that there wasn’t over voting during the governorship election.

The justification of the results of the elections which would not stand the test of time is the song that the INEC directed Adeleke and the PDP to be singing as a saving grace for the restoration of the battered image and integrity of the INEC in Osun State as it was established and affirmed by the tribunal.

My advice to the teeming members of the APC is that they should gear up and refuse to be downcast with the results of the elections which were not the true representations and wishes of the majority of the people of Osun State.

My advice to the beneficiaries of the suspiciously rigged elections is that they should not rejoice over the Pyrrhic victory yet as what is currently in their possession is a metaphorical dead sparrow which would later be consigned into the dustbin of history by the court of law-Chief Kola Olabisi, a journalist, writes from 111, Itasin Street, Agun’s Compound, Modakeke, Osun State
