Tribunal: Winners Of 2023 Senate, Reps Elections File Separate Applications For Inspection Of Election Materials In Osun

Winners of the 2023 Senate and Reps elections in Osun state including Senator-elect, Dr. Kamorudeen Lere Oyewumi, Osun West, and Ajagunla Olubiyi , Osun Central have filed separate applications  for inspection of the materials used for elections in their respective senatorial districts.

It will be recalled that the  presidential and national assembly elections were held on February 25 2023.

A statement issued in Osogbo and made available to  Team@orientactualmags.com noted that the newly elected federal lawmakers and those who would be retaining their parliament seats in the next legislative session, had only taken proactive steps in anticipation of possible petitions against them by those who stood as APC candidates in the respective elections.

It will be recalled that the PDP had won all the reps and senate seats in the state.

The statement added that similar applications have also been filed by reps-elect , Hon Sanya Omirin; Ijesha South, Rep Bamidele Salam, Ede North/Ede South/Ejigbo/Egbedore Federal Constituency, who would be retaining his parliament seat , ditto, Rep Wole Oke ; Obokun/Oriade Federal Constituency.

 Hon. Bimbo Ajilesoro, Hon. Mudashiru Lukman Kayode, Hon. Olusoji Adetunji and Hon. Lanre Omoleye have also followed suit and they have all  filed separate applications for inspection of the  materials used for   the elections that  produced them as winners.

‘It will be recalled that the APC candidates, who lost in the elections in question , had  submitted petitions at  the Tribunal  seeking  to challenge the victory of the PDP candidates.

Winners of the elections had filed the separate applications to preempt any attempt by the APC to tamper with election materials by ensuring that  the legal team  of the successful candidates monitor the inspection of election materials by the defeated opposition candidates.

The successful PDP candidates are prepared to ensure that the mandates given to them by voters in their respective constituencies are defended and not stolen by the APC which is notorious for usurping mandates’ the statement said- Team@orientactualmags.com
