Gov Adeleke Condemns Political Killings In Ife, Ijesha Communities, Asks Police To Arrest Violators Of Movement Restrictions Order
Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun state has told security agents to arrest anyone that violates the movement restrictions order during the House of Assembly election that would be held in the 30 local governments and Area Office in the state tomorrow.
The governor further tasked the security agencies with enforcing previous directives and regulations which had required political leaders to stay at their respective polling places or residences after voting instead of visiting towns and villages.
‘Any resident who breaches the directive on movement restrictions should be picked up. Political leaders who moves around towns and villages during election should desist from doing so as security agents are under directive to stop such a movement. Nobody, no matter how highly- placed, will be allowed to disrupt the peaceful conduct of the assembly elections.
I have directed immediate arrest of hoodlums and political thugs statewide. Any leader who harbors such merchants of violence should await the full wrath of the law.
As a follow up, security agencies have begun raiding and cleaning up of hotspots and hideouts of criminals across the state. There will be no hiding place for those who are bent on foisting violence on the peace- loving people of Osun state.
This election will be conducted peacefully. I call on Osun people to troop out enmasse to exercise their civic rights. I assure our people of maximum security. We must ensure high turnout. Pick your PVC and exercise your constitutional rights to vote and be voted for’ the governor submitted in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.comby his spokesman, Mr Olawale Rasheed.
The governor has also condemned the killing of a supporter of his administration in Ile- Ife on Thursday evening, the incident was allegedly recorded after a political rally was held in the city which was attended by APC bigwigs.
‘Wole, a welder and a supporter of the ruling People’s Democratic Party (PDP) was gunned down at Ife South even as ongoing reports said mass violence is ongoing across Ifeland against supporters of the state government’ the statement said.
Governor Adeleke ,who condemned the killing of Mr Wole and others in separate incidents of political violence, directed security agencies to arrest those responsible for Wole’s death and other killings in the state.
‘ I commiserate with the families of Wole and others who have been killed simply for being my supporters. The killings are spreading from Ilesa to Ila- Orangun to Ikire and now Ile Ife. This is highly inhuman and unacceptable. We have reached out to the leadership of the police service and other security organs to bring perpetrators to book’ the statement added -Team@orientactualmags.com
