Easter: Ilorin-based Cleric Warns Election Losers Against Inciting Violence

Easter: Ilorin-based Cleric Warns Election Losers Against Inciting Violence

The Bishop,  Diocese of Kwara Anglican Communion,  Rt. Reverend Sunday Timothy Adewole, has cautioned those, who are aggrieved by the outcomes of the elections held on February 25 and March 18, 2023, against inciting violence or doing anything that will jeopardize the rule of law.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned Rt. Reverend Sunday Timothy Adewole , who said this while giving his sermon during the Easter service held at the Cathedral of Saint Barnabas Anglican Church ,Sabo-Oke, Ilorin, Kwara state, noted that ‘only God appoints leaders to lead nations’.

‘Nobody can  become a leader except the Lord puts him there if we want to seek redress, we should go the legal way, we should not incite people, we should  follow the law of the land and then hope on the lord’ he said.

He also  said notwithstanding the challenges the country had faced,  Nigerians  should  keep hope alive and look forward to having ‘Nigeria of our dreams’.

Speaking on the essence of the Easter celebration,   Bishop Adewole said ‘Easter celebration is  the resurrection of the lord Jesus Christ, today Jesus rose to defeat Satan and to open the gate of eternity for believers, today is so important because if there is no resurrection there will be no Christianity. He rose that is why we have confidence to know that even after leaving this world there will be a place in His Kingdom’ .

Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq had  since  congratulated the Christian community in  Kwara state on the 2023 Easter celebration , calling it a period of introspection, self-discipline, sacrifice, forgiveness, and commitment to God.

In a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr Rafiu Ajakaye  on Saturday, the governor called on Nigerians to take advantage of the period to seek God’s favour for the country and eschew all divisive tendencies.

‘The Easter festivities come at a unique moment in our national life when we have just elected new representatives and chief executives to be in charge of the affairs of the country for the next four years. In the spirit of the Easter, and of the Muslim’s holy month of Ramadan, we need to bury the hard feelings that came with electioneering campaign and join new leaders for the task of nation- building — a task that requires everyone to support every effort for sustainable growth and development.

I wish everyone greater strides and glad tidings as we celebrate the festivities’  the statement said.

Speaker, Kwara state House of Assembly,  Rt. Hon. Engr. Yakubu Danladi-Salihu  has also congratulated  Christians in the state on the occasion of the 2023 Easter celebration.

He urged Christians to imbibe the lessons and essence of the Easter celebration, ask for forgiveness and renew their commitment to God.

‘On this great occasion of Easter celebration, I wish my Christian brothers and sisters compliments of the season and many happy returns’ he said
