Kebbi Guber: Gov Bagudu, Gov-elect, Others Jointly Celebrate Election Victory In Birni Kebbi
Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu ,who was in a joyous mood, shook hands with the Governor-elect, Dr. Nasir Idris, the Kauran Gwandu and congratulated him shortly after he was announced as winner of the supplementary governorship election that was held in the state on Saturday.
Others who joined the governor to congratulate Dr. Nasir Idris and the deputy governor-elect, Senator Abubakar Umar Tafida include former governor Saidu Nasamu Dakingari, who was the Director General of the state APC campaign Council, members of the campaign Council, Commissioners, Special Advisers, friends and well-wishers.
Governor Bagudu’s Special Adviser on Media, Mr Yahaya Sarki noted in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com that a thanksgiving prayer was held at the Government House, Birnin Kebbi after Dr. Nasir Idris Kauran Gwandu was announced as winner of the supplementary governorship election by INEC.
In his acceptance speech at the Presidential lodge ,Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi state Governor-elect, Dr Nasiru Idris promised to accord top priority to the education sector.
‘The people’s government will galvanize the education sector to provide not just education, but a functional education.
A massive revolution is needed in the education sector. We will fully equip all the schools with modern tools and equipment.
In all, Kebbi State will no longer lag behind in national examinations and we will take our pride of place in education.
Teachers will henceforth be getting their rewards here on earth and in the hereafter’ he said.
The Governor-elect further promised to ensure that Kebbi state becomes the real food basket of the nation by repositioning the agricultural sector.
‘Our people are largely agrarian and the state has been hugely blessed with vast fertile land.
My administration will inject more life into the sector towards massive food production and bolster food security’ Idris promised.
The Kauran Gwandu also said he would make Birnin Kebbi metropolitan areas become a true and real state capital by executing massive infrastructural development .
He said ‘we will make it a truly and remarkable city by improving its entire infrastructure to make it at par with all cities of the world’.
The Kauran Gwandu also said he will pursue a massive rural transformation agenda, adding, ‘it is their time to get the fruits of their support for us’
The Governor-elect also underscored the imperative of ensuring the security and safety of lives and property of the generality of the people of the state.
He also said the state government was genuinely concerned with the recurring security challenges in the southern parts of the state.
‘We will pursue a solid security architecture development agenda to guarantee the safety of lives and property of the citizens.
We will maximize our relationship with all the security agencies to boost the security of lives and property of the people’ he added.
Idris further promised to empower everyone in the state.
‘Our government is the government of the people and it shall be by the people.
We will initiate more policies and programmes to ensure the even development of the state’ he said.
He also extended an olive branch to the opposition in the state, saying ‘the elections are now over’.
‘The task of building a virile better and bigger Kebbi State is the responsibility of all’ he added.
The Governor-elect also thanked Governor Abubakar Atiku Bagudu for his unflinching support and invaluable mentorship while commending Justice Minister, Abubakar Malami, SAN, DG, Campaign Council, Alhaji Usman Saidu Nasamu Dakingari and other critical stakeholders for their invaluable efforts towards ensuring his victory.
He dedicated his victory to the entire people of the state and promised to hit the ground running on 29th May along with deputy governor- elect, Senator Umar Abubakar Tafida.
He commended the poor, downtrodden, rural dwellers, labourers, farmers, students, ‘Okada riders’, hawkers, workers and teachers at all levels for their support and understanding.
It would be recalled that the Returning Officer for the supplementary election , Professor Sai’du Yusuf, had on Sunday declared Dr. Nasir Idris, Kauran Gwandu winner of the election adding that he got 409,225 votes while the PDP guber candidate, Aminu Bande had 360,940 votes-Team@orientactualmags.com Do you have any information you wish to share with us?
