President Buhari Orders Probe Of Adamawa Political Debacle, Wants Partakers Punished

President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the probe of  security agencies involved in the illegal declaration of Senator Aisha Dahiru Binani as Adamawa state  governor-elect on Sunday.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned a circular issued on Thursday noted that the  president  has approved the suspension of the embattled Resident Electoral Commissioner , Hudu  Ari from office pending the completion of ongoing investigation by the Inspector General of Police (IGP) in respect of his role in the declaration of Binani as Governor-elect.

 Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha noted that Buhari  has also directed the immediate investigation and prosecution, if found liable, of Barr. Hudu Yunusa Ari, by the IGP.

‘Also, the President has directed investigation by the IGP, Director-General of the Department of State Services (DSS), and the Commandant General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) into  the role of their officers in aiding and abetting the conduct/actions of Barr. Hudu Yunusa Ari and if found culpable, appropriate disciplinary actions, to be meted out to them’. 

It will be recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had asked Ari to stay away from office indefinitely following his role in the illegal declaration of Binani as Governor-elect.

This was contained in a circular to him by Mrs. Rose Oriaran-Anthony,  who is the Commision’s Secretary .

It was titled ‘ Commission’s Directive to stay away from INEC, Adamawa State’.

‘ I hereby convey the commission’s decision that you (Barr. Hudu Yunusa Ari), Resident Electoral Commissioner, Adamawa State should stay away from the commission’s office in Adamawa State immediately until further notice.

The Administrative Secretary has been directed to take full charge of INEC, Adamawa State with immediate effect’ the circular  had noted.

It will be recalled that  the political debacle in Adamawa state which had  begun on March 18, 2023, had ultimately ended in election victory for Governor Ahmadu Fintiri .

Fintiri, who became the governor of Adamawa state in 2019, had won a second term after 31 days of political battle.

Governor Ahmadu Fintiri was the PDP gubernatorial candidate in the gubernatorial election held on March 18, 2023, and the subsequent supplementary governorship election held last weekend.

 Adamawa state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Hudu Yunusa Ari had declared the APC gubernatorial candidate , Senator Aisha Dahiru, aka Binani winner of the election under controversial circumstances on Sunday.

Hudu Ari had announced Aishatu Ahmed Binani as winner of the election at about 9.30 am on Sunday less than two hours before the scheduled resumption of collation.

His action was later declared null and void .

The state Commissioner of Police , Mr Mohammed Barde was also redeployed apparently because of his role in the drama enacted by Huru.
