Minister of Education, Professor Adamu Adamu, has said the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has not ended its strike action because the issue of ‘no-work-no-pay’ has remained unresolved.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned he said this on Thursday while featuring in the 47th Session of the State House Briefing organised by the Presidential Communications Team at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
The minister said ASUU had not called off the strike because of their demand that all salaries during the industrial action be paid, a request the minister said the government had turned down.
Other issues had according to him be looked into and addressed.
Adamu, however, said four of five unions in the universities across the country had agreed to end the strike action within the next one week, such a decision , he noted, would be announced by the union leaders after taking necessary steps.
The strike action that began in February has entered its seventh month- Team@orientactualmags.com
