A Magistrates’ Court in Ilorin on Wednesday ordered that a medical doctor, Ayodele Joseph, who was alleged to have put a female nurse under sedation and had sex with her, should be remanded in a correctional facility.
Ayodele is the Chief Medical Director of Ayodele Hospital, Ilorin.
Charges preferred against him are act of gross indecency, and rape which are contrary to sections 285 and 283 of the penal code.
The prosecutor ,Gbenga Ayeni, alleged that the defendant, (Dr. Ayodele), put the patient under sedation and had sexual intercourse with her without her consent.
The victim had according to the prosecutor visited the hospital for medical treatment when the doctor carried out the dastardly act.
‘Investigation into the matter however led to the recovery of the video recording containing sexual action of the defendant on the victim while medical test also confirmed that the said nurse was assaulted and raped’ the prosecutor submitted in the charge sheet.
The prosecutor also asked that the doctor should be remanded in custody cognizant of the gravity of the offence.
Magistrate Gbadeyan Kamson consequently ordered that the doctor should be remanded in custody while adjourning the case until May 18, 2023-Team@orientactualmags.com
