Cooking Marathon: Hilda Baci   Finally Overtakes Lata Tondon…Why There Has Been No ‘Official Confirmation’ -Guinness World Records

A 27-year-old university graduate, Hilda Baci, who is an indigene of Akwa Ibom state,  has eventually  ‘overtook’ Lata Tandon and she has  become a Guinness Book of Records holder.

The Guinness Book of World Records is a British reference book published every year which contains   records of human achievements and the extremes of the natural world.

A chef from Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, Lata Tandon,  had  gotten recognized after  cooking for 87 hours and 45 minutes non-stop.

Lata had  become the first woman in the world to accomplish this feat.

Hilda  on Monday morning dwarfed the 87 hours, 45 minutes record set by  Lata Tondon.

The chef, who put on her cooker on Thursday at exactly 4pm, had cooked for 96 hours, setting a new world record as the first human on earth to spend such a length of time on cooking. She has reportedly extended this to 100 hours.

Hilda Effiong Bassey, popularly called Hilda Baci, has broken the Guinness World Record for the ‘longest cooking marathon by an individual’.

The Guinness Book of Records had since  acknowledged her laudable effort while clarifying and explaining why there has been no official confirmation yet.

One Alexander had  in the early hours of Monday, May 15, 2023, sought to know why Baci’s success was yet to be acknowledged by the Guinness World Records.

‘Why is Guinness World Records not showing or talking about Hilda’s cook-a-thon? Can’t see anything on their pages (Twitter, Facebook, YouTube), he had submitted.

‘We’re aware of this amazing record attempt, we need to review all the evidence first before officially confirming a record’ the Guinness Book of Records however tweeted.

President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated  Hilda Baci for making history by breaking the world record of longest hours of cooking, finding her way into the Guinness Book of Records, and placing Nigeria on the global spotlight.

President Buhari lauded the young culinary expert for turning her talents and passion into a career, with a rippling effect on the economy as she runs a restaurant in Lagos, and trains other talents on entrepreneurship, and now leads the world in resilience, perseverance, and consistency in cooking.

‘The President notes the antecedents of the restaurateur, who dazzled at the Jollof Face-off Competition, 2021, preparing mouth-watering dishes that won the choice prize, and settled an age-long rivalry with Ghana on which African country should own the trademark for cooking better jollof- rice.

President Buhari believes Hilda Baci’s drive and ambition have brought more interest and insight into the uniqueness of Nigerian food, as another cultural icon, with huge tourism benefits, hoping more young people will follow in her footsteps.
