Kayode Alabi Leads Kwara Govt Delegation To Jamiu Oyawoye’s Funeral In Offa

Islamic funeral prayer (Salatul Janazah) was held for Professor Jamiu Mosobalaje Oyawoye (CON) in Offa, Kwara state on Tuesday.
Oyawoye, a renowned geologist, who was born on August 12, 1927, died on Monday, May 22, 2023 at the ripe old age of 95.
The deceased geologist has gotten recognized by many as the first person to teach Geology at the university level in Africa, the first Professor of Geology in Africa, and the first indigene of Offa to become a professor.
A Government House, Ilorin statement which was made available to Team@orientactualmags.com noted that the state Deputy Governor, Mr. Kayode Alabi led a powerful delegation of Kwara State Government officials to the Islamic funeral amid prayers and eulogies for the deceased professor, who was turbaned as Baba Adini of Kwara state by Alhaji Ibrahim Sulu Gambari, the Emir of Ilorin and Chairman, Kwara state Council of Chiefs in April 2017.

The statement noted that the Olofa of Offa ,Oba Mufutau Gbadamosi Esuwoye II, several Offa chiefs and dignitaries, and children of the deceased professor received the delegation.
The janaazah was attended by hundreds of Muslim leaders, scholars, top politicians, and academics from across the state and beyond.
The scholars recalled the commitments of the late statesman to national development, human advancement, Islamic propagation, and peaceful coexistence in Offa and beyond.
Dr. Ahmad Agbaje, a member of the Kwara state Arabic Board, who delivered the main lecture, submitted that the late Oyawoye was a rare gem who gave his all to humanity adding that he was humble in greatness.
‘He had no apologies for his beliefs and his love for the Qur’an. He served God wholeheartedly and would be remembered for his philanthropy and commitment to public good’ Dr. Agbaje said.
He urged Oyawoye’s children to emulate his good deeds and live up to the billings of being the children of a great man who was known for his integrity and service to humanity.

Kora Sabi; Commissioner for Education and Human Capital Development, Hajia Sa’adatu Modibbo Kawu; Commissioner for Finance, Olasumbo Oyeyemi Florence; Commissioner for Communications, Hon. Abubakar Saddiq Buhari; Special Adviser on Strategy, Saadu Salau; Special Adviser on Special Duties, AbdulRazaq Jiddah; Special Adviser on Youths, Hon. Umar Mohammed; House of Representatives member-elect, Ahmed Adamu Saba; the governor’s Chief Press Secretary , Mr Rafiu Ajakaye; Special Assistant on Religion (Islam), Alhaji Ibrahim Dan Maigoro; Chairman, Kwara State Teaching Service Commission, Bello Taoheed Abubakar; and several other top government officials, party officials and elders led by Acting state APC Chairman, Alhaji Abdullahi Samari; Dr. Ghali Alaya; and Alhaji Baba Olosasa.
