Yakubu Danladi Elected Kwara Speaker For The 2nd Time, Urges Support For Gov Abdulrazaq Administration

The inaugural session of the 10th  Kwara  state House of Assembly was held in Ilorin on Tuesday  with Speaker Salihu Yakubu Danladi urging co-lawmakers to justify the confidence reposed in  them   by  their  constituents. He has also asked them to set to work immediately, ensure ‘‘effective and efficient performance of our constitutional responsibilities’ , and show great commitment to the task of making Kwara great.

Hon Danladi ,who won a second term in March this year, has gotten elected as Speaker for the second time.

  He said Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq  has provided good governance in the state in the last four years  while praising  his leadership acumen   and noting that  ‘we are proud of him and  we will give his administration  the needed legislative support’.

He said the responsibility of overseeing the ninth House of Assembly had gotten placed on  his shoulders four years ago and  choosing him as head of the tenth House of Assembly was therefore a reassurance  of  vote of confidence and support for what he had done  for the people of Kwara state.

He thanked the members of the House of Assembly for electing him as Speaker calling this   a demonstration of great trust and confidence in his leadership.

While urging them to use the opportunity of their membership of the House of Assembly ‘to foster unity and progress of our dear state’  and ‘ promote peace and good governance’, he noted that though  the challenges ahead are enormous, Governor Abdulrazaq has however in the last four years laid a sound foundation through   his visionary leadership.

Team@orientactualmags.com learned that Hon Yakubu Salihu Danladi ,who was unanimously re-elected , was nominated by Hon  Abdullahi Halidu Danbaba of Kaiama state constituency at exactly 10.56 am and the nomination was seconded by Hon Arinola Lawal.

Hon Ojo  Oyebode  Olayiwola of  Oke- Ogun  state constituency has also been elected as new Deputy Speaker, he replaces  Hon Raphael Adetiba, who has lost his parliament seat.

Olayiwola was nominated by Hon Razaq Olatunde Owolabi of  Share/Oke-Ode state constituency .

The Magaji Family in the Agbo -Oba area of Ilorin also had the House Leader position retained by them as a member of the family,  Hon  Oba Abdulkadri Magaji of Ilorin Central state constituency ,  has been named as new House Leader.

His elder brother, Hon Magaji Abubakar Olawoyin was until his death  on Monday , January 9 , 2023, the  House Leader. 

Hon Abolarin Ganiyu  of Ekiti state constituency is the new  Chief Whip,  Hon Medinah Abdulraheem- Deputy  House Leader,  and Hon Yusuf Mariam Aladi – Deputy Chief Whip.

The inaugural session was attended by former speakers; Hon Bio Ibrahim, Hon Babatunde Mohammed, Hon Benjamin Isa , traditional rulers and political bigwigs including Chairman, Kwara state House of Assembly Service Commission, Alh.
