New Senate President , Godswill Akpabio , Visits President Tinubu In Aso Villa
Mr. Godswill Akpabio, who was elected as President of the 10th Senate on Tuesday morning, has visited President Bola Tinubu at the State House, Abuja.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the inaugural session of the 10th Senate began before 09:00 am with the Clerk of the National Assembly, Sani Tambuwal being in charge of things.
Akpabio was eventually elected as Senate President having gotten 63 votes while his co-contestant, former Governor of Zamfara state, Abdul’aziz Yari had 46 votes.
Mr. Godswill Akpabio is the first former Minority Leader to become the Senate President and the second former Executive Governor to become the Chairman of the National Assembly.
Senator Barau Jibrin representing Kano North also emerged as the deputy senate president.
He was nominated for the position by Senator Dave Umahi and the nomination was seconded by Senator Saliu Mustapha , Kwara Central.
In another development, Hon Tajudeen Abbas, has also been elected as Speaker of the House of Representatives.
He got 353 votes while his co- contestants; former Deputy Speaker Idris Wase and Sani Jaji, got 3 votes each.
