Akpabio Presides Over Senate Executive Session For The 1st Time As Senator Oyewunmi Gets Off To Good Start
President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, presided over an executive session on Wednesday, and he had done that for the first time since his emergence as head of the tenth senate.
The former Akwa Ibom state governor had on Tuesday gotten elected as Senate President during the inaugural session of the tenth senate at the National Assembly, Abuja.
He had gotten 63 votes while his co-contestant, Alhaji Abdulaziz Yari, a former governor of Zamfara state, had 46 votes.

The Deputy Senate President had moved a motion for adjournment of the senate, and this was seconded by Senator Lere Oyewunmi , a member of the PDP.
The Senate had during the executive session on Wednesday noted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu would be officially informed of Godswill Akpabio’s emergence as Senate President and Jibrin Barau as Deputy Senate President.
While nothing was said about the appointment of the Senate leader and other principal officers of the senate, the Senate however took a decision to send letters to Speaker Tajudeen Abbas of the House of Representatives, and his Deputy on their election victory.
The Senate which had since adjourned until July 4, has also set up a committee to look into the welfare of members.
