Cabinet: Osun Assembly Promises To Complete ‘Confirmation Hearing’ Process Next Week
The Ad hoc Committee set up by the Osun state House of Assembly for the purpose of screening Governor Ademola Adeleke’s cabinet nominees concluded the first stage of the confirmation hearing process on Thursday.
The confirmation hearing process had begun earlier in the week for 25 individuals, who were announced as cabinet nominees by Governor Ademola Adeleke on Friday, July 7 2023, and this had continued at the Osun state House of Assembly complex on Thursday.
Confirmation hearing involves gathering of information about candidates nominated for cabinet positions by head of the executive arm.
Chairman of the ad hoc Committee, who is also the Deputy Speaker , Rt. Hon. Akinyode Oyewusi, had in his speech during the inaugural meeting of the committee assured the public that they would thoroughly scrutinize the academic certificates and Curriculum Vitae submitted by the nominees ‘to achieve the best for our state and the people’.
‘Screening of the nominees started on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, with the scrutiny of academic certificates and ideas of the nominees and the process ended today, Thursday, July 13 , 2023.
Each nominee spent an average of 20 minutes before the Committee, as the Committee members posed questions to them centering on their academic background, economic background and innovation skills.
With the conclusion of the screening exercise, the Committee will present its report before the House, and the nominees are expected to appear before the House during a plenary session to finalize the screening process next week’ Mr. Olamide Tiamiyu, who is Speaker Adewale Egbedun’s Chief Press Secretary , noted in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Thursday.
