Osun On Alert For ‘Attack’ On ‘Church’…Gov Adeleke Urges Vigilance

Security agencies in  Osun state have been put on the alert following  a certain Facebook post warning of an imminent attack on a church in the state.

 The  state chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, has consequently advised churches in the state to  be on the alert.

 The Facebook post in question  clamed that  a particular  Saint Mary Catholic Church would be attacked   during Sunday service.

‘A church with the name St Mary Catholic Church at a region called Osun region is again targeted for attack. People close to this church must be made to understand the situation. 23rd July is a date given, we urge everyone out there to get this message across to the church and its management.

Just like the OWO massacre which we warned, we shall not be happy if this is ignored as the St Francis was. The casualties would be numerous. We warn again!’ the anonymous facebook user wrote.

CAN chairman, Osun  state chapter, Rev John Adeleke,  said  church leaders have been told to be vigilant and take necessary steps and report suspicious movement to the security agencies.

‘We had meetings with some churches to review the situation. Security agencies are on top of the situation and we urge churches across the state to ensure that they observe safety measures and report suspicious movement to the security agencies’ he said.

Governor Ademola Adeleke  has also urged citizens and residents of the state to be security conscious while assuring that his administration has taken to security precautions secure the state.

In a  statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Saturday, Governor Adeleke said he has directed heads of security agencies in the state to deploy proactive crime and terrorism prevention strategies in response to the security threats reported by the intelligence community.

‘I assure the people of Osun state that service chiefs have acted and the security of lives and property is guaranteed. Our people should not panic as both formal and informal apparatuses have been activated.

Our people should go about their normal businesses without fear. They should be conscious of their environment and report any suspicious movement to security agents’  the statement said-Team@orientactualmags.com
