Following the fire incident recorded at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the University College Hospital, Ibadan, on Saturday morning, head of the tertiary health institution, Professor Jesse Otegbayo, has allayed public fears and asserted that ‘there is no cause for alarm’.
Spokesperson for UCH ,Funmi Adetuyibi in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Saturday noted that the CMD, Professor Jesse Otegbayo has promised to ensure that the fire incident ‘is investigated’ while steps had since been taken to make the health facility continue to perform the function of providing healthcare services unhindered.
‘The Chief Medical Director (CMD) of the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, Professor Jesse Abiodun Otegbayo has allayed public fears over the fire incident that occurred in a section of the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU) in the early hours of Saturday, 19th August, 2023.
Though the cause of the fire outbreak is yet to be ascertained, there was no casualty as a result of the unfortunate incident and all efforts were put in place to ensure that the fire was put out.
The CMD has assured the public that adequate arrangements have been made to ensure that services are not disrupted both at the ICU and the hospital in general.
He appreciates the timely intervention of the Oyo state Fire Services, the media for their concern, and the efforts of the staff of the hospital that led to putting the situation under control.
Professor Otegbayo assures that the immediate and remote causes will be investigated to forestall future occurrences.
