Aregbesola’s 2026 Guber Election Comments Not ‘ Cause For Concern’ -Osun PDP Chairman

Aregbesola’s 2026 Guber Election Comments Not ‘ Cause For Concern’ -Osun PDP Chairman

Osun state PDP Chairman, Chief Sunday Bisi, has submitted that the recent statement made by Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola with regard to the gubernatorial election expected to be held in the state in 2026 ‘is not in any way a cause for concern’.

Chief Sunday Bisi, who cited outcomes of the elections held in 2017 and 2018,  said  the people of the state will determine who should be their leader.

Former Minister of Interior and a one-time governor of Osun state, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, had submitted last week that   the State of the Living Spring will become an APC –controlled state after the 2026 gubernatorial election.

Appearing as a guest on Rave FM’s programme called ‘Oro Oselu’  on Monday which was monitored by Team@orientactualmags.com , Chief Sunday Bisi  said ‘there is no reason’ to be worried or afraid whatsoever submitting that Osun state people would not want anything that would ‘return them to Egypt’.

Rave FM is a private radio station in Osogbo, Osun state capital.

While noting that the former governor has the right to hold opinions without interference, the PDP Chairman noted however that the party has been unperturbed about what he has said about the guber election in question because of what had happened during previous elections in the state.

‘Aregbesola was the  governor in 2018  when he brought Oyetola,  we had a guber election and we knew what happened before a rerun was held.

In 2017, in the Osun West senate by-election,  Governor  Adeleke was the PDP  candidate and out of the 10 local governments in the senatorial district, the governor won in  9 local governments. People will determine  who should be their leader and Iam sure they will not want to return to Egypt’ he said.

While asserting that the PDP has met Osun state the way it had left it in 2010, Chief Sunday Bisi said the infrastructural development the state has witnessed under Governor Ademola Adeleke will not make the people welcome the idea of ‘returning them to Egypt’.

He also said  road projects  including the Osogbo-Ila –Odo road dualization project  which  the former ruling party could not  bring to completion in 12 years are being taken to completion by the Adeleke administration.

Chief Sunday Bisi also asserted that those, who have gotten appointed to positions in the executive and legislative arms of government in the state, were products of inclusive and participatory processes.

While submitting that the party ‘is in control’, he added that those who want to cause divisions in the state PDP  have promoted the existence of ‘a sole decision’ alleging that someone determines what happens in the party .

Chief Bisi said a meeting was held at the state PDP secretariat to take a decision on the ‘selection process’ before commissioners were appointed and it had Governor Ademola Adeleke and other stakeholders in attendance while adding that such meetings were also held to take decisions before principal officers of the state house of assembly, ALGON officials and the local government caretaker committees were appointed-Team@orientactualmags.com
