Oyetola Rounds Off Inspection Visit To Agencies In Lagos, Says Blue Economy Ministry ‘ll Collaborate With NCS To Decongest Ports

As part of his efforts to enhance productivity, create jobs and raise the revenue profile of the Federal Ministry of Marine and Blue Economy, the Minister in charge of the ministry, Adegboyega Oyetola, on Wednesday, disclosed that the ministry would collaborate with the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) to strengthen its activities for greater productivity.

Oyetola said such a partnership would help to resolve issues surrounding the over 4,000 containers and over 3,000 vehicles abandoned at the nation’s ports.

The minister has also rounded off his inspection visit to some of the agencies and departments under his ministry as he on Wednesday, visited the office of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), ditto Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN) and the Lekki Deep Seela Port- all in Lagos state.

Oyetola noted that the collaboration with the NCS would not only have positive results but would also go a long way in building a synergy for the growth and development of the ministry and the paramilitary agency.

He said proper modality would be put in place in respect of how the said containers and abandoned vehicles that have occupied public space could be addressed to allow adequate revenue generation at the country’s ports.

The former Osun  state governor, who had earlier interacted with the management and staff of the agencies, said no stone would be left unturned to ensure the actualization of the set objectives of the newly created ministry.

A statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com noted that the minister during his visit to  the NSC,  promised that the ministry would work towards addressing all the issues raised and strengthen the capacity of the Council.

Similarly at the Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN), Oyetola encouraged the management to ensure good maintenance of their facilities while commending the Lagos state government for investing in the project that has huge revenue potential for both the state and the nation at large-Team@orientactualmags.com
