Edo: A Boon For Peace Prospects As Deputy Gov Earnestly Urges Gov Obaseki To Overlook His Mistakes

A significant development in respect of the ongoing efforts to achieve peace among Edo state PDP bigwigs was recorded on Thursday.
It had become known to all that the relationship between Governor Godwin Obaseki and the Deputy Governor, Mr. Philip Shaibu had become strained as the rift between them had come into the open through the dramatic scenes that have gotten enacted in succession since last month.
The governor and his deputy may return as ‘best of buddies’ soon and jointly work towards ensuring that the PDP records victory in the upcoming guber election.
Comrade Philip Shaibu on Thursday sought forgiveness from Governor Godwin Obaseki for any unintentional mistakes he may have committed while carrying out his duties and responsibilities.
Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the deputy governor said this while talking to journalists in Benin city after his investiture as Grand Patron of the Catholic Men Organization of Nigeria of the Catholic Archdioceses of Benin.
‘I have always said that I am a loyal servant, and nothing has changed. I took a vow to support my governor and as you can see the Catholic people are here. Everything about me is that if I have a vow with God, there is nothing that can change it. I can only wish that the relationship that we have before, I prayed and know that in the next few weeks it will come back.
I am missing my governor and I prayed that God would touch my governor’s heart and others and even those that are trying to come between us, God would touch their hearts to know that I mean well.
If there is any mistake I have made as human, it is just human and not act of wickedness because I am not wicked and I have a clean heart.
I use this medium to appeal to Mr. Governor that if there is any mistake I have made or if there is anything that I have done that I don’t know of, he should please forgive me so that we can develop our state together’ he said.
Shaibu also said the Obaseki administration has just one year to go, adding that they had been the envy of the entire country because people had assumed that they cannot have an excellent relationship .
‘Mr. Governor if there is anything you feel I have done please I am sorry, and I need us to work together to finish well and strong because that is my prayer for you’ he said while adding that he has obeyed the governor’s directive to relocate to his new office.
Shaibu also said he would gladly carry out any responsibility given to him by the governor.
‘l live my life in God, everything about me is God. When you remember that the life you have does not belong to you, you have no reason not to serve God’ he also added.
Earlier, the CMO President of the Archdiocese of Benin, Barrister Austin Odigie said the decision to honour Shaibu with his new title was as a result of his commitment to God and for being active when it comes to church activities.
‘We have seen your commitment to all activities in the church. You have brought yourself low to the level of all of us in the church.
You are the only deputy governor who serve mass during Father’s Day celebration. No other deputy governor has been captured serving mass. The Archdiocese of Benin, Archbishop Augustine Akubeze will personally invest you on September 24 during the first mass’ he said-Team@orientactualmags.com
