Kwara PDP Secretary Laments Suffering Of Ilorin Flood Victims
Secretary, Kwara state PDP , Mr. Abdulrahman Abdullahi Kayode on Tuesday lamented the suffering of flood victims in some areas in Ilorin, the state capital, including Adeta and Pakata while adding that a young boy almost got drowned in floodwaters in the Okefoma-Adabiyah area of the city but was lucky to have been rescued.
Mr. Abdulrahman Abdullahi Kayode in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com on Tuesday stated the need for the state government to support the flood victims to overcome the challenges attendant with the incident while suggesting flood prevention measures.

‘My thoughts and prayers are with the people of Adeta and Pakata areas and some other places in Ilorin metropolitan areas whose houses and properties worth millions of Naira were submerged in floodwaters as a result of the recent downpour.
We also got a report that a little boy almost got drowned in floodwaters in the Okefoma-Adabiyah area of Ilorin but got rescued through the help of the good people of the community. This is very sad and devastating. I offer my deepest condolences to the affected families.
This is a difficult time for these people as many were caught unaware and so devastating that they could not spend the night in their respective houses .
An eyewitness said this flooding was caused by the wrong road designs as a result of the covering of drainages by the Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq admnistration. The drainages were constructed by past administrations to allow easy passage of flood before the present administration resorted to deceiving Kwarans with substandard cosmetic projects by covering the drainages, and painting the roads, and its kerbs in the buildup to the 2023 general election.
I have always emphasized that in a society where there is an effective governance, a government would constitute an effective planning and design system and institutionalize a statutory Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and other safety measures to ensure that the safety of the people is prioritized and guaranteed before projects are approved and implemented’ he said.
The Kwara state PDP scribe has also urged the state government to do all in its capacity to support the flood victims.
‘Apart from the fact that urgent prevention measures should be taken to avoid a recurrence, the people affected also need urgent government attention in the form of temporary succour that will enable them navigate this difficult time’ he added-Team@orientactualmags.com
