Nigeria @ 63: Senator Lere Oyewumi Praises Nigerians’ Resilience, Urges Peaceful Coexistence

As Nigeria marks her 63rd Independence Day, the Deputy Minority Leader of the Senate, Akogun Lere Oyewumi has felicitated Nigerians, describing this as a great milestone that calls for both celebration and sober reflection. He has praised Nigerians for their resilience and sacrifices to surmount the nation’s challenges while noting that the country has demonstrated unusual resilience in the face of many odds.

Senator Oyewumi  in a statement made available to Team@orientactualmags.com called on Nigerians to use the occasion to reflect on the past achievements of the country, particularly the contributions made by the founding fathers towards achieving independence and building a united country.

 ‘Today, we celebrate 63 years of nationhood. It’s pertinent to celebrate the return of our liberty, the restoration of our dignity, and the democratic resilience that we have built over the last 6 decades’ he said.

Senator Oyewumi added that the celebration of Independence Day is an event that should reawaken Nigerians’ consciousness towards the consolidation of unity among the diverse people of the country.

Akogun Lere Oyewumi also urged Nigerians to be optimistic about the future of the nation, notwithstanding the enormity of the current challenges, adding that there will be light at the end of the tunnel.

While calling for a vigilant citizenry’s involvement in monitoring government activities, officials, and programmes, the federal lawmaker prayed that the country would continue to exist in peace, with unity among the various groups and a continued development and progress in every part of the country-Team@orientactualmags.com
