Journalist Found Dead In Zamfara After Going Missing For 4 Days Was Killed By Nephew, Friend—Police

The police on Tuesday disclosed that Hamisu Danjibga,  who was until his death  the correspondent of the  Voice of Nigeria in Zamfara  state, was killed by his nephew and his friend..

Recall that  Danjibga was abducted at his residence in Gusau, the Zamfara State capital , on Sunday, September 17, 2023. After going missing for four days, his body was later discovered in a soakaway.

 Team@orientactualmags.com learned that the state Commissioner of Police, Muhammad Shehu, who made this known on Tuesday, also said the two suspects have since been arrested and taken into custody.

 The two suspects were also shown to the public  at the state police headquarters on Tuesday.

They are Danjigba’s nephew, Mansur Haruna, and his friend, Ibrahim Garba.

They had according to the police chief conspired to kidnap the veteran journalist but however stabbed him to death when he resisted the move to abduct him.

He noted that the suspects confessed to the crime during custodial interrogation while some items belonging to the late Danjibga were also  recovered from them.

‘The prime suspect is the son of Danjibga’s elder brother. He lived with the late Danjibga here in Gusau. He had wanted to join the Nigerian Army, but Alhaji Danjibga said: ‘No, with the type of criminal tendencies I’m seeing in you, I’ll never be a guarantor for you to join the Nigerian Army’.

Alhaji Danjibga sent him out of his house, and he went to stay with his friend, Ibrahim Nababa. It was at the friend’s house  that they planned how to kidnap Danjibga. When they finished the plan, they went to his house and when they met him, they wanted to take him away from the house, but he resisted.

He said: ‘You, my son, it is you that wants to do this kind of a thing to me. I am not going anywhere’. It was at that  point that the boy brought out a knife and stabbed him three times in the chest. His friend also attacked him with a cutlass, he fell on the ground and died immediately..
